I finally managed to get in a LITTLE ride today - but I will take it. I am just plain weather shy right now... No pain though, so my fitters efforts appear to be paying off :)

Hey, little rides are great. I did a little 15.5 mile ride yesterday before work and it was fine. Today we rode in Mystic and Stonington Connecticut, two places I have never been to. We are going to be co-leading a ride here on the 21st. We drove down with the leader (a friend), about an hour and 45 minutes. He had done this before, but the cue sheet he had was wrong in a few places. Overall, it's pretty, a combination of along some harbors, the Mystic River, and 2 quaint village shopping areas, with a lot of rural farm land, too. But, there were some dicey traffic intersections (left turns at a stop sign that is on a bit of a rise, onto a busy road) and I frankly, do not like riding in beach towns, especially since I was in another state, where I am not sure how drivers react to cyclists. Near the end, we had to go over a drawbridge. There was a skinny concrete section between the metal and I rode down it, but it was scary and hard for me, especially on my Guru, which I love, but I just am not as nimble on it as my other bike. I may walk on the sidewalk to cross on the ride. Anyway, I spent the first half of the ride being hypervigilent and kind of just on the edge, and then I calmed down, but it was fricking hot out, in some places (90-95). Thankfully, the parts near the water were much cooler. We tried a slightly different way back in the last 3 miles, which turned out to be all big climbs. We will not do them with the group. It ended up being 32 miles.
We cleaned up slightly in the car and then went for a burrito. I think I may take my other bike for the ride in 3 weeks, but I may change the pedals out, so I can use my Frogs.
I kept catching my shorts on my saddle today. Embarrassing. I think this pair hasn't been washed a lot and it's a bit thicker.

A little ride for me today too -- around 14.4 miles. We rode to/from the Trek bike store to pick up my Bontrager LT1 (light trail) tires I'd ordered for my Jamis (formerly Catrin's Jamis!) It seemed like a much longer ride like that because it was pretty urban, lots of stop signs and stoplights, under I-35, onto a paved bike path for awhile, and into a shopping district. VERY windy but a nice tailwind on the way back. Here I am just after walking my bike around a section of the path that had mud on it from recent heavy rains. It was cool for this time of year (upper 60s) but very nice indeed!

I'm leading a club ride tomorrow. My first time as a ride leader. I'm pretty sure at least one other person will be there.

Rode 25 miles with people from work, including the boss. He's fast. He and my sprinter friend took off, other friend took off after them, and between the wind and my dwindling fuel reserves, I tried as best I could to keep up. Man, I'm sore.

25 very casual ride on Saturday. Sunday was supposed to be my first charity ride and I was thinking I'd go for the 50, but we got rained out and ended up eating every calorie we would have burned and then some!

Total of 45 miles for the weekend despite of the bad weather. 15 easy solo miles Friday, 9 recreational miles with my boys at the Mayor's annual bike ride Saturday and 21miles today with a couple of friends.
