I want pick on the brains of those who are experienced with multi-century/long rides in regards of training.
A month ago, I did a somewhat hilly ride in Zion, totaling 95 miles. The following week, I rode 4 days straight with a couple hard rides.
Last week, I rode a VERY Hilly Sedona MS150 (technically 138 due to shortening of the course, at no fault of my own with nearly 9,000' of climbing ). The past three days, I did no rides, just to kind of recover, relax.
Next week, I have a Century ride in San Diego, and it's another hilly ride, but I don't think it's as hilly as Sedona.
My question to you is for this weekend and next week's ride, should I take it all easy or mix easy/hard/hilly this weekend? Will it be too much to do a ride 4 days in a row again? Miles per ride - 24 (C-B pace), 45 (B pace, with some steep hills), 36 (C-B Hilly pace), 30 (D-C pace).
The week of Sedona, I only did one super easy ride a couple days before, and I felt very strong, despite all the hills and the 20-30mph winds I endured. So I'm thinking about doing the same for next week before San Diego.
The reason why I'm asking is because I really don't want to overtrain, and while I love cycling, but I'm starting to feel kind of 'bleh'...don't feel like riding hard/long. I have nothing to prevent me from riding (ie - no injuries, or muscular issues or anything). I just want to be "smart" when it comes to training. I know cycling is low-impact sport (compared to running), but you can still do "too much" right?
Thanks!
