Ladies, next weekend is the Great Lakes Regional Mountain Bike Summit. This is a fantastic opportunity to talk to others who are passionate about mountain biking and find out how you can get involved. Women can have such a voice and if keeping our trails and sharing the sport with others is something you care about, then we’d love to have you!

You may not realize, but your local mountain bike club is always looking for folks to get involved. They are not just looking for strong backs to build trails, but strong voices to spread the knowledge and information we have to better our communities. Advocating isn’t just digging dirt, but talking to others about your love for mountain biking. Whether shaking hands at town meetings or just having a friendly chat at your local trail head, this is what being a mountain bike advocate is about.

The upcoming Great Lakes Summit offers a wide variety of topics that all pertain to mountain bike advocacy. On Saturday, join us for a discussion on Women in Mountain Bike Advocacy. We’ll have a panel of women advocates from several regional mountain bike chapters who are willing to answer questions and give ideas for getting involved. On Saturday afternoon, we’ll also be hosting a Youth Round Table discussion. Let’s talk about getting our kids off the couch and into the woods!

The Summit is $50 to attend, and while that may seem steep, the knowledge and information you’ll walk away with will far exceed that price. The cost includes a light breakfast as well as lunch on Saturday. Please consider joining us. You don’t have to come for the entire weekend; you can just come for part of it. And don’t forget to bring your bikes so you can ride the IMBA Epic Brown County mountain bike trails!

All the details are available at www.hmba.org. Hope to see many of you there!

Cheers,
