Wondered if anyone is going to this one. I'm thinking to try the hilly ride.

Meet at Walnut Creek BART for 40 hilly miles ... hmm, where does it go?

They don't usually say where they're going, but Bekki said that it's mostly rollers and slight grades... only one hard hill. Sounds like a good training ride for me. I'm still not sure I can make it, but I'll see.

Slinkedog- know the phrase "That which doesn't kill you will make you stronger"? Just keep that as your mantra as you march up those hills!:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

We decided to do a hilly ride around San Jose instead... my hubby has to take the car in to get new tires, so it doesn't work for me to be gone so long. But thanks for your encouraging words, Nancy!! :) The hills can be fun... at least it gives me a good sense of accomplishment to make it to the top, and hopefully there's a descent on the other side!

I just heard from a rider who said she got her check back with a note that the ride is full. So...let's all enjoy all the training rides we can. If you're not registered and wanna do the Cindy your best bet is watch for someone to announce that they can't go and have their registration up for grabs.

Starting from Walnut Creek Bart the 'hilly' option is going through Lafayette, Orinda and Martinez.

A lot of these training rides are rides that the Valley Spokesmen have listed in their ride library. valleyspokesmen.org

These training rides are a kind of joint effort between LunaChix and some of us VS members, so that's where we get many of our routes.

Everyone is very friendly and these rides are NO DROP. If someone gets a flat we all stop. If there's a mutha of a hill we have a regroup spot shortly thereafter. It feels a little like herding cats, but I think everyone is having a good time, and definitely getting their heinies in gear for sitting for sixty miles.

I'm the one singing showtunes while I pedal.

Hey Dar! I remember you from the very first ride out of Danville with the clinic beforehand. I was complimenting you on your singing!! :) I decided to stay close to home this week, but I'll be there for the Benecia ride.

BikerDar- Be sure to come and say hello to Dave, and the cats at my place which is about 30 feet from where you start! Cindy Sue knows my condo, she'll direct you all there. I'll leave a floor pump by the front door for anyone to use. Unfortunately I have to work, so I won't be there.:( :( :( :( :(

I hope you all like the ride. It will be beautiful - marshes, rolling hills, lots of views of the countryside and a bike shop to visit on the way home!

Jelly Belly- well I'm not a big fan, but it's fun! I do use their electrolyte beans in the summer as I have found they work pretty well in the heat.

I'll want to hear a bike report! :) :) :) :)

It was a really great ride. Weather was PERFECT! I was sorry I had worn a long sleeved jersey when we were climbing Pig Farm, but happy to have it for the descent.
We started from Walnut Creek Bart, which was a little dicey, and we ended up missing a turn, but once we got going it was all good! San Pablo Dam Road is SUCH a fun road to ride isn't it? Can't wait to go do the Bears one of these days......too bad about this pesky day job.

It was fun, and the weather was perfect. It was kind of funny to see the looks of people on the Moraga bike path when they realized 3 dozen women cyclists were approaching. :)

Did you go up Pig Farm hill from the west side (definitely harder) or the East side????

I'll be up there tomorrow going up the easier of the 2 as part of my metric century rides.

Biker Dar- anytime you want to do the Bears let me know! It would have to be a Sunday or Tuesday (or Friday Feb 24th-an exception to my days off) as those are my normal days off. BTW that's part of the Tour De California which starts next Tuesday!!!!!!! they only do 2 and then do Happy Valley Road which I hear is tough!
