After 4 days of lovely weather and not riding, I knew I had to ride today. My son and his gf were eating lunch with her mother who is in town for the week. Today was my chance to meet her. And i had no other plans that would make it hard to fit in a bike ride.

SO I rode from my house on Beacon Hill to the restaurant on Queen Anne Hill. As I rode across town, I thought a lot about the rides I used to do with my husband. I even could hear him telling me what to do, turn here... and i did. I turned onto King street instead of Jackson.. which was silly because it doesn't go where I wanted. So I turned around and took the sidewalk.. and as I did, I found a brand new 10 dollar bill!

i continued across town, debating with myself whether or not I should take a bus up Queen Anne or walk... (19% grade, I can't ride it)
Yes, Walking won. ANd at its steepest I feared losing my footing and slipping back down the hill. But I made it!
I got to Starbucks where i got my breathing under control and then met my son and his GF and her mom for lunch. we had a pleasant visit, found out the mom teaches people how to drive muscle cars!!

Since i didn't want to ride back down that hill, i asked "the kids" for advice and ended up on a back street that was not so steep and dropped me onto the new bike and foot bridge that takes you to the waterfront.

Next I stopped at Elliott Bay Bikes where they adjusted my fender which was rubbing.

I headed south for home, going back up the hills. 3 miles out it began to rain. Since i was already warm, I just kept going.

21 miles!

That is awesome Mimi! I bet Donald was laughing from above about the $10 windfall for going on the wrong street.

I used to live at the top of Queen Anne hill. It's a rare feat to be able to bike all the way up! Glad you had a good ride!

Sounds like a great day, Mimi!

I will post about my adventures when and if I have any. I need to get some wheels first. I've got my eyes on a Pashley, then I need to decide on a chariot for the little one.

I don't think I have had an adventure lately. :( I smiled at the $10, Donald was definitely with you!

That's cool you got to meet her mom.
I haven't had any interesting rides lately because when it's cold I only commute. It's starting to get really nice so I should get in some longer rides maybe even this weekend.

I've taken 3 little rides in the last week, Mimi. My big adventure was 1) getting rained on and 2) swearing going up the 2 hills I climb all of the time and thinking I'm going to have start leading "beginner" rides :). It's not like I wasn't extremely active over the winter. Oh well, I keep blaming it on the fact that I am riding the bike that I tend to ride in harder gear combinations, even though it actually has more lower gears.
Looking forward to longer rides today and tomorrow.

Next time I have an adventure worthy ride I will post for the TE family! Best ride I had two weekends ago. Saw a jackrabbit who stopped for a photo op. He (or she) was a beautiful creature.

Congratulations on a productive and memorable ride, Mimi. (Finding $10 wasn't bad, either!)

I briefly considered riding yesterday, but I suspect my first ride is going to be a real eye-opener after the long winter we had. Instead, I took each of my dogs for walks totaling 1.5 miles. I'm so glad the daylight hours are extended again; it gives me options to do additional outdoor activities without having to pick and choose what gets done before dark-or what doesn't get done at all.

Nice ride report!

The bf's mother teaches people how to drive muscle cars - that has piqued my interest - did she tell you any more about that? How does one get a job like that!? A private driving school, or at a track?

they own a private riding school. They teach normal people to drive too. but their specialty is teaching people how to drive those high powered numbers.
