While we've seen images of Dutch cyclists thronging the roads/paths and Copenhagen with its cycling masses, here's China...where it was a status symbol to own a bike. China had 500 million bike owners at its height. Getting a bike as a wedding gift was a big deal during those decades. But then, majority of population was poor at that time.
