It's my first winter with the bike-ride-disease ;) And because of too
much snow I haven't biked in 10 days now.

I'm SO restless and pine for a ride on the road or a ride in the forest :(

Are you having the same problem?

I've started to fantasize about fat bikes (so I can ride in the snow)
or new road bikes, I can use when spring arrives again :D It could be expensive ;)

Beater bike with studded tires. So much fun to ride in the snow (ice, really) with studded tires. Almost makes me want to move somewhere snowy. Almost.

Are there any trails the snowmobilers use near you?* They get pretty packed down and can be ridden. Unless they are really icy, you'll just need to let some air out of your tires.

*In some areas of the country the snowmobile trails are very heavily used and those would not be safe to ride on, I'm thinking of the more casually used ones.

Sounds fun, but I'm too careful to play around like that :D

We haven't got that much snow in our country. I'm careful because I haven't the best experience with riding in snow.

I just want to use my x country skis!
I ride in cold weather, but not in snow. I look forward to the break.

I get horrible cabin fever in the winter. It tends to be rainy around here instead of snow. If it snowed I could cross country ski. Instead I put my bike on the trainer. I also joined a gym so I could swim. That seems to be helping. This Saturday is supposed to be partly cloudy with temps in the 40s. I should be able to ride then.

Me too. I have the trainer, but I hate it and would rather be outside. I don't ride if it's below freezing (or hovering around there and wet), so that limits a lot of my riding time. I'm also working during prime riding time this year (weekend afternoons), so relatively little riding for me. :(

I am going totally and utterly nuts right now. I haven't ridden in two weeks, and it was 60 degrees today. Where was I? At work.

I'm glad to hear I ain't the only one going nuts without riding ;)

Today after work I took a chance and went to the forest with my Rockstar. The trail was covered with some melting snow and ice, but there were also some trails were I could ride in the side without ice and snow. It was a bit risky, because the bike was hard to handle without studded tires. Afterwards I biked to the lake.

BUT IT WAS F*CKING FANTASTIC TO RIDE MY ROCKSTAR AGAIN!

It's been 17 days since my last ride ;) I'm full of positive energy right now :D

Owwww, that hurts! Last time we saw 60 about a week ago it was raining cats and dogs...I felt the same :(.

Snowed today and the forecast looks grim for riding for the next 10 days, but I can't complain, it's winter in Michigan and any outdoor ride is a bonus till March or April. I used to enjoy the outdoors in winter downhill skiing, but that's a thing of the past with my knee issues. I use a trainer but mostly I hate it. It's nothing at all like outside riding but I force myself just to help keep up the stamina.

Devold, glad you got a ride in, winter can be mighty long...

Who's going to be the first to get a fat tire bike? I want one because they look fun and cool.

BikeWriter--the worst part of it is that I work at a bike shop!

Down here, we usually don't get enough snow to justify a fat bike, and there's not a lot of sand (our soil is mostly clay). One day, perhaps. I will be getting a CX bike, though, and I'll see if I can get a set of studded tires for it.
