What's with the short shorts?

I bought a pair in the summer with 8" legs - waaay too short for my long femurs. They are supposedly an "Athena" model too. When I go searching for women's shorts with at least a 10" leg length, they just don't seem to be available. So, back to wearing unisex I guess.
Is the 8" length some kind of fashion trend? I just don't want that much of my leg showing when I ride. (I'm 5'-8", 30.5" inseam)

Terry has some 10" shorts.
I'd say the most available length is 6-7 inches, followed by 8 inches.

Thanks for bringing this topic up...sadly I will need new shorts next year as most of mine are getting too big and I HATE short shorts.

Are there other brands than Terry and LG with longer inseams? So far my body hasn't been all that impressed with the Terry chamois, and I've not tried LG. What really has me cringing is 2 of my 3 pairs of bib shorts are getting too big. I really LIKE drop-tail bibs, especially in hotter weather for longer rides.

Inseam is 10.5 inches. Plus, they are great shorts. Only ones I use.

I also like these.

My go-tos are Rapha, which are stupid expensive, but I got last year about this time for 50% off, and I'm scouring my email and their site daily, hoping for new sale. I also wear knickers a lot. I know they're not for everyone, but I live in Florida and wore them throughout the summer, except on the hottest and most humid days, in complete comfort. I like the Terry Bella and one Castelli pair I have.

Pic with friends at mile 83 on a hot day, and those are arm coolers, very nice protection against the rather brutal sun here.

Okay, I tried this. All I came up with in my size was a Terry short that was only 1" longer, and a Shebeast board short that I already ordered and sent back due to the waist being far too big. So, back to unisex.
