View Full Version : Spreading the word about TE

My husband recently sold something to a woman in Canada. With the package, he included a note on one of the TE post-it notes that are typically included in TE purchases (which we have a ton of). Well, apparently the woman wasn't quite sure what to make of the name but went to TE's website and was really impressed with the selection. So, Susan, if a Canadian woman named Claudia orders from TE, you owe the sale to a post-it note!!!

I received those post-its once, when I ordered something and had it shipped to hotel in Portland where dearie was staying. One does wonder how other women learn of TE.
I'm trying to remember I learned of it...I think it was just by accident after I was tired of participating in another women's cycling forum that was moderated too heavily with several members being overly sensitive about various comments. NOt that we are free-ranging here but I think people here are just practical and respectfully honest here with suggestions most of the time. :)

I found the retail site first, but I can't remember how. Presumably I Googled something and TE came up in the search. I think my first purchase was a Shebeest jersey.

My husband is slightly embarrassed by the Team Estrogen post it notes. Which amuses me.

I keep at least one pad of the TE post-its in the lab. No one else wants to use them (are they embarrassed by it? I don't know) so my supply of post-its is safe! It also means that people know who left notes. :)
I seem to remember that I found TE via a swimsuit discussion on another forum.

I believe I found TE after googling "how to unclip while going slowly up a hill without falling down and making a fool of oneself", or something like that. :)

I'm sure I came to TE through the retail site as I found it hard to find women's cycling clothing in North Carolina where I lived when I first started. I don't know what led me to the forums, but I'm sure glad it happened!
I used to have one of the TE window clings on my car in NC. One of the guys I worked with used to give me a hard time about it. He'd ask stupid stuff like 'does the whole team take one week off per month?". Ugh. I know he was kidding, but it got old quick and he never seemed to get that.

I landed here needing help to find a suitable saddle after I had tried every saddle at REI.

It turns out that my DH actually discovered the shopping site, while looking for rain pants for me, before our first tour in late 2004. He did order them for me and still gets sale notifications from TE. I discovered the forums, just a few months later, in February, 2005. I remember the date, as I was on school vacation, sitting on my computer, on a snowy day, doing some random searching about cycling. I remember the next day, I went out for my first ride of the year, on my mountain bike, with very fat tires, on the road.

I found the forums before the retail site, but I don't remember what it was I googled to bring me here, when I was newly returned to road cycling.
Most of the people I ride with are men, but I've mentioned TE to women cycling buddies. The post-its kind of drive me crazy, actually. But maybe it's just that I order from TE too often. :p

I like the post-it notes :) I've a couple of co-workers (male) who always make a big deal about the name - I think it embarrasses them and this is their way of dealing with it. I found it amusing at first but I wish they would just get over it.
I found the forums before the commercial site - I was looking for advice on my very first bike :)

Oh, Crankin's post actually reminded me....my husband joined TE forums before I did! He came here looking for something (presumably to help me out??) when we first started riding and joined to ask a question, I believe. It was a couple of months later before I found this place on my own and joined. Ask yourself, why didn't he just tell me about this place, huh? (No idea...and no, he doesn't hang out here...he hasn't been on the forum since that first time...)

I found TE by looking for a local womens group to ride with. Didn't have any luck there but, I love the forum and post-its, even though it's been a while since I ordered anyhting from them.

I ordered from the shopping site a few times before I realized there was a forum. A coworker had recommended TE for cycling clothes. I became aware of the forums when I asked a saddle question on a very male-dominated site. Someone basically said "we don't know-see what these women have to say" (how often does that happen?).
