OK Girls...I have searched several threads about bibs and this has not seemed to have been discussed...
I am not huge but definitely well endowed (I had a reduction at the tender age of 17 because I was in fact huge) needless to say still internally self conscience...
Anyway, to the question...do any of you bib owners have issues with the straps being utterly annoying (hahaha...did i make a put:confused: ) I am have a very hard time finding winter clothes in my size (small) everything seems to be medium and up...I have to purchase an entire winter cycling wardrobe and if i do not find some more stuff on sale i am not going to be able to ride:(
I have found some mens small bibs for an average price...any thoughts?
Thanks!

I had one pair of Castelli bibs - I gave them to Trekhawk because they didn't fit my calves. :p I didn't find the straps at all annoying.
Does it have to be bibs? I just got the Sugoi Firewall tights and am pleased. They DO zip over my monster calves. Jobob got the ones from Sporthill and it sounds like those are keeping her toasty.
I'm riding a lot at night so I'm currently rotating an old pair of Thom's tights from REI, my wool leg warmers and the Firewalls and doing laundry nearly every day. ;)
Did you get the clearance e mail from TE? Being a small, there may be something there. I do wish Susan would order too much medium stuff so that would go on clearance.

I too have monster calves but have never needed tights so haven't had an issue...but good to be aware of. I am short so it is hard to up a size in order to fit the calves in...the rest of the seams seem to be all out of preportion:confused:
I have looked at the firewalls....looks like a good tight!
Has anyone tried the Performance Illuminite warmers? Hey TrekHawk...how are those illuminite pants working for you?
Any tips on jackets are welcome too...already got yours cali:p
Thanks...off to TE sale site!
OHOH...Denise...post your winter clothing guide post again...can't seem to find it (looked in the search but i must be missing it...sorry)

It was in the high 40s, low 50s last night - my first ride in the Firewalls and the wind was blowing 15 - 20 mph. I checked our local wind site because my time was slower than usual.
Anyway... I was really comfy in the Firewalls. The biggest part of my calf - oh my god I just measured it - 16.5 inches with jeans on! 16 inches if I pull it really snug  and the mediums were fine on my colossal calves.

Love bibs even with my somewhat generous boobage. I like Castelli's women's because the straps are attached to come around the sides rather than over the tender bits. TE has these (and maybe on sale?).
Assos bib knickers go up the center to avoid the same parts (we had lots of fun with that one!).
Assos also makes what they call a bib short but is actually more of a sleeveless skinsuit. These were my anniversary gift this year but I haven't had a chance to wear yet it being maybe 50 degrees here.
I would be leary of men's bibs unless you try them on. You may not like the location or length of the straps and the pad may be the wrong shape. However, it should be pretty easy to find a pair to try.
Isn't PI now making a women's bib again? I have a couple pair of their prototypes from several years ago and the straps go over the tender bits. Not the best design. They may have fixed this.

I have 2 pair of the Performance IllumiNITE warmers and love them. I also have a pair of IllumiNITE tights and a jacket - I wanna be SEEN when I'm riding in less the perfect conditions (not - of course - that NM Ever has less than perfect conditions! ) The tights were a little tight around my calves but I'm so short I could just push the legs down and they were fine. If I were to order them again I would probably go up a size just so I have more room to layer under them but they aren't uncomfortable.

Okay, now that's just creepy. My husband got me that Assos skinsuit thing for our anniversary, too! (I think he was channelling the pic from their ads!)
It looks totally cool (I am veritably boob-less, though, despite my linebacker shoulders). I also have not had a chance to wear it - wearing longer tights as well. And also, I hesitate to wear that on any super long ride because it seems like a pain in the neck when you stop and pee! ;)

Ooh, two Sarahs in matching Assos skinsuits in northern Calif? Sounds like the Twilight Zone!
How many years for you? 18 for us on Jan 2, the beginning of the tax year. Durn it, if I have to pay Uncle Sam to be married to Bubba I want the benefit of the entire year.

Very Twilight Zone!!
It was 11 years for us Nov. 5. Last year (for the big 10), the gift was my Eddy Merckx. The Scandium Anniversary. I don't own much (any?) jewelery!

What's scandium? I don't think I own any of it either, and if it's s'posed to be the 11th I'm way overdue! Just passed 30. (And we started on a Friday 13th! ) 30 was s'posed to be pearls, but did I get any? Not. Oh well. Don't have the power suit to go with those anyway.

Hey we started on a Friday the 13th too! It must be good luck, because our 20th is this year.

Congrats on the 30! The Scandium Anniversary is sort of a joke. Like the Golden Anniversary or the Silver Anniversary, etc. Scandium is an alluminum alloy. It's a great ride!

I love how this thread went from bibs & boobs (can i actually write that out) to anniversaries...now where is the food?;)
Anyway...Congratulations to all of you!!!:D now i must go and revise the list of appropiate gifts...we are getting married in less than a month:eek: so this will be fun!
as for the bibs...i have decided it is worth a try but i want to at least pop into a shop and try on a pair before i commit...meanwhile i found a pair of tights that will get me by till the sales get REALLY good.
Friday the 13th used to be a sacred day to the Northern Europeans. A day that honored the goddess Freya, and the 13th lunar month. I consider it an auspicious day, both in honor of my ancestors, and because my beloved nephew was born on a Friday the 13th! May it be a blessing to your marriages, although it sounds like you're doing very well on your own, thank you! ;) Lise

I knew that ALL Fridays honored the goddess Freya -- goddess of fertility and of Norwegian chocolate ;) -- but I wasn't aware that the 13th was extra special for her. Thanks for the info! And remember the Freia chocolate next Friday 13th!

Don't forget:
Seventeen - Carbon/Kevlar Topolino wheelset
Eighteen - Titanium freehub in custom wheels and Assos bib shorts (the later also appropriate for the Eleventh, was it maillotpois?)

Yummmmm, Norwegian Chocolate. My mother in law gives us a stack of Freia chocolate bars every year. My brother in law named his dog Freia too.
