Many thanks to JoBob for suggesting this ride to us. About half of the ride is also on the bike portion of Barb's Race. But I never look around when I'm racing. Who knew there was a HUGE cemetery at the top of Canyon Road? The vineyards were stunning with large grape bunches still hanging at many of them. We had a wonderful day, even though Thom broke his chain at mile 4. The SAG called for the Sprocket Doctor, who came pretty quickly and fixed him up. The food at the rest stops was incredible. And best of all we had a great weekend visiting with good friends.

PS Snap sorry you couldn't make it. But we were happy to luck into your room at the B&B! Much nicer I think than the Super 8!

I did - largely because it was an info control on a SRCC brevet ages ago.... :D

That's how Lee & I recognized it too. It was on Team AV's one & only group brevet. Ah, memories. :)

But back to the present. This was a fabulous ride, the weather was as close to perfect as weather can be, the scenery was glorious, and the support was excellent. This was our third consecutive year riding the Asti Tour de Vine (http://www.astitourdevine.com/) and it seems to get better every year. The start/finish is at a winery and a great lunch is served at the finish, complete with beer & wine. This year I even won a bottle of wine at the ride finish. This ride has been on our must-do list for some time now (even before I won that wine).

And it was great to see Veronica & Thom!

I thought that was the brevet, Jo! I realized that after I posted. :)

Olive Hill Cemetary. I do recall that. And I'd always noticed it there, just never looked for the sign til that brevet. I just love riding in Sonoma and Napa - especially at this time of year. It's just beautiful.

Sounds like a great ride. For some reason our entire fall has been so impacted it was just never an option for me.
