I didn't see a post about rides this weekend.

I did a 75 mile ride, prepping for El Tour de Tucson in November. My team mates really pushed me on the pace line - and didn't let me take many pulls. I'm not that fast on my own, but we finished with about a 16.2 mph average. The weather was just about perfect.

I was too tired to ride today though- and my hamstring felt tight. I stretched and did yard work instead.

2 small rides, well 3, if you count Friday.
On Friday, I rode with my friend. We did hills in Bolton and Harvard, it was gorgeous out, about 75. When we were about 3 miles from her house, I was far ahead, waiting for her in west Acton, when my phone rang. Her kevlar tire had exploded. She said it was cut right through, so I sprinted back to her house, got my car, and picked her and her bike up. 24 miles.
On Saturday DH and I did a 21 mile loop into Westford and Chelmsford and back. I hadn't done this ride in about 6 weeks. We had an incident with a car in Carlisle, in a very rural, very popular road for cyclists. Without going into details, I surmise the driver was not familiar with driving or riding rules in this country. That got my HR up, but the ride was still good. The fall colors are really nice this year.
Yesterday, I forced myself out to do a 16 mile loop, with a nice hill in the middle. It was considerably cooler out, which I like. That finally burned whatever allergy/sinus thing has been hanging around, inside my body.

It sounds like both of you had fun and you were able to push yourselves :) Crankin - glad to hear the driver incident worked out and you were able to still have a good ride.

No riding for me this weekend until I get my cleat/pedal issues resolved. No riding in traffic when I can't depend on my cleat to behave in a predictable manner - so it was pretty much a restful weekend full of cooking and house cleaning - with a nice hike thrown in. Both of my bikes were looking at me with that "come hither" look in their wheels, it was hard to turn them down. The trails were too wet Saturday, and I've a weekend of mountain biking and camping coming up next weekend anyway.

Catrin -- are you going to Brown County? I don't mountain bike (yet!), but my son is interested, and I live in Columbus so we've been thinking of just running over to Brown County this weekend to see demos, etc. since its less than fifteen minutes from us! Have you been there in the past? Is it worth it to stop over for a few hours?

It is 100% worth it, you won't regret it! Here is a link to the schedule (http://www.browncountymountainbiking.com/breakdown/schedule.html), the demos start at 10 Saturday morning and will be in the parking lot at the southern end of Pine Loop. You will see them from the guard house at the entrance, so no problem about getting lost. I will be at my volunteer duties elsewhere from 10-2:00 Saturday, but enjoy what you can stay for! The Brown County Breakdown weekend is the height of my fall, crossing my fingers the weather will cooperate! Last year the weather was beautiful.

I went on a very short ride with a friend on Saturday morning. It was schedule to be 25 miles but we just did 10 due to the fact that on Thursday I went Mountain biking and hurt my wrist when I crashed into a tree and it was hurting I could have done a few more miles but I decided better not to put any more pressure to it.

Sorry to hear you had a crash, but glad to hear you are listening to your body and hope the wrist feels better quickly!

I rode the bike leg as a triathlon relay on Sunday. It was cold and rainy and I was riding a rented bike as I've still not found the right bike to replace the one I crashed. This one had the front brakes rubbing the whole time. The whole, hilly, time. UGH. But I powered through and I survived the hills, thanks a lot to the fans out on the course. And our medals are cool looking and ultimately it's about the fun medals. :) Overall, good time, but I'm tired and sore and I just started to warm up. :) Now, time to figure out what bike I want to buy. UGH, who knew this would be so difficult.

I did a lovely fall mtb ride. "Bead Lake". 11 miles up a very mellow forest road to the trail head, then 6 miles of single track that alternated between lakeside cliffs and dark groves of giant cedar trees. Fun times.

I did an easy 26 mile ride from our house. I had zero energy, so my wonderful husband pulled the whole way. When I went through periods of "i don't want to be doing this" as I am wont to do when I'm out of shape, I reminded myself that a month from now, I'll be wishing for weather as nice as we had yesterday!

It was great to be out, to enjoy the warm sun on my back, and to get some fresh air. :)

Irulan, I envy that countryside!

Rode 40 slow miles with a friend who is having knee problems. Did a really fast 42 miler today. Felt great. Wish I could do the 60+ miles but my neck just won't let me right now. Maybe someday...

I did the Bicycling Fall Classic. Got the ride with Bicycling's editors, Ted King and Bike Snob. It was great and best of all, I placed 3rd on the timed climbs for women!

Felt a little under the weather this weekend but I went out for a 12 mile ride to get some sunshine. In addition to the sunshine, I also got my first punctured tire. :P

Here are pictures, mainly because I wanted to take pictures of my bike. Guilty as charged.

I lead the usual 3 rides this weekend. Saturday B Group 30 miles to lovely Locust Valley; Ladies Social ride 8 miles then Sunday the 25 mile B Group.

My Sunday group is a little different than Saturdays and these last couple of Sundays have turned into a problem. There are quite a few that really need to move to the A group. I posted the problem on our club FB page and hope they get the hint. Saturday is so nice as since it is the same riders since Spring and we are all in sync with one another.
