And it's a complete ACL tear, pretty much the entire joint is stress fractured, Medial meniscus slightly detached from the bone, Oh yeah, and a sprained ankle to boot... Surgery is scheduled for 10/25 with 2-4 physical therapy sessions before so I know what to do afterwards.
The good news? The Dr. recommended cycling as a form of exercise to keep the joint mobile until surgery. Yay! :D

Thank You Catrin and Oakleaf. As long as I can get some biking in during the last nice months of the season I'm happy. The timing is perfect; the Dr. said it will be a 6 month recovery which will take it through winter here in Minnesota, and put me ready to go for spring cycling

At least if it had to happen, the knee was gracious enough to have good timing ;)

Hi TrekDianna, Thanks for checking in! Just had my first pre-op physical therapy appt last week. Strengthening the quads and restoring as much range of motion as possible before the surgery is the goal. The P.T. Kinesiotaped my knee which really helps with general comfort. Other than that, I'm supposed to keep walking and riding my bike as much as possible. Okay... twist my arm..... lol

Just saw this.
Oof. At least you get to ride a bit. It sounds like you're looking on the bright side, which is good. :)

From watching my partner recover from a total knee replacement last month, I can tell you that its amazing what they can do. She went from almost unbearable pain pre-surgery and walking with no crutches a week after surgery. I wish you the same speedy recovery. Listen to your PT person. They really know what they are talking about. Please keep us updated....and RIDE!!
