My DH and I recently had the wonderful experience of visiting Yellow Springs for a couple of days on our way home from visiting his parents in Ohio on a trip we took to the US last month, and I thought some of you might enjoy seeing our photo slideshow. The cycling (and scenery) on the Little Miami Scenic Bike Trail was amazing! I could so live here in the summertime. :D

That looks suspiciously familiar. ;) (Those are my normal riding spots. I live 10 miles from Yellow Springs. Too bad we missed each other!)

Glad you enjoyed them. Those trails are my favorite thing about this area. (Young's Dairy is a close second.)

Looks great!! I'm glad you enjoyed the trails, Emily! I also live 10 miles from YS...just a different direction. ;) I'm near the McDonald's just North of Xenia.

That is so cool! We were riding mid-week on Day 2, so you were probably at work (if you work). I'm sure there's more "traffic" on weekends, but it was dead while we were there, and that was awesome. I am very envious that you have such a wonderful place to ride. Safe and flat...lovely. You are very lucky!

You know that isn't the prettiest part of Ohio, don't you? ;)

That looks awesome. Even though the Minuteman Trail Rant that someone posted a couple of weeks ago is satire, it pretty much describes any trail riding near where I live...

Where is prettier? We've done some riding near Canton (tow path and country roads) and I haven't ridden it, but the area around Millersburg is gorgeous. But the hills! I loved riding near Yellow Springs because I have been riding on a flat island for a year and was not ready for many hills. I would not have been ready for a 50-mile hilly ride, but flat riding is a whole different thing. And it was beautiful!

I used to work there at Glen Helen Outdoor Ed. Center. Miss that place.

My first husband and I were married at Glen Helen. :)

Where is prettier?

Farther south, particularly southeast - the Hocking Hills and the Wayne National Forest are just spectacular. But if you were impressed by the hills in the Amish country, bring your low gears for southern Ohio. :)

Glen Helen looked gorgeous! Next time we visit we'll have our hiking boots and stay longer. :)

Oak, we drive thru southern Ohio on the way to Barry's parents, and even from I-77, it looks gorgeous. I have ridden in the Finger Lakes area of NY, Vermont, and other areas with huge hills, but they are not my favorite. Gorgeous but very tough. Fortunately, my Bike Friday has mountain gearing but I'm not sure my hip is up to it, at least for more than one day. Heck, Chapel Hill and Hillsborough, NC, my usual riding grounds, had more than enough hills for me. Note their names both include the word "hill". :D

Pretty!

I haven't ever ridden a bike up there but my whole family is from there!(my dad is from Cincinnati and my mom is from Tipp City/Dayton). My grandfather still lives in Dayton and my Aunt is still in Cincy.

Love seeing all the flowers!

Glen Helen is really pretty. I've never ridden in SE Ohio, but Hocking Hills is gorgeous...and hilly. Good hiking down there.

I've hiked Glen Helen, it is so beautiful there! I've ridden the Little Miami trail around Yellow Springs a few times and have enjoyed it. It was my first experience on a MUT that wasn't clogged with kids and dogs on retractable leashes and skateboards and pedestrians walking 4 abreast and...you get the point. Youngs Dairy is also a good reason to be in the area ;)
