Oooo-weee ! Sierra & Felter, stud muffin territory! Although I see they are going down the Calaveras wall. Hmpf.
Oh, slinke, I see the time trial is going up Bailey, your favorite ;)
For a second my heart stopped - OMG, thought I, is this happening while I'm away? But no, joy of joys, I'll be back by then and I won't be missing it - happy dance.

I have info to sign up to volunteer for either of these stages if you guys are interested! :)
Yes, Bailey... I will be doing it in a couple of months, God willing. I'm going to work my hiney off to make it up that hill.

Jo - Are these some of the same roads as the Tierra Bella? The street names look really familiar.
I'm considering on putting in for a day off from work to spectate the TT in San Jose, and maybe even the one in SF. I simply CANNOT miss this race.... anyone see if the website has the start times posted yet? I signed up for email updates.
Wowie! Pro stage racing in California again....oh how I miss those "Coors Classic" days!!:D A few months ago, it was rumoured around these parts that they might have a Yosemite Nat'l Park (or vicinity) to Merced, then Merced to Monterey stages....! I think, though, they might have been going for pretty scenery for the kickoff year. The Merced to Monterey stage would be flat until you reach the Pacheco Pass area just past Los Banos, but it goes up, up, up from there. Road closure permits might be a hassle though, putting my Planner cap on...CalTrans!...GRRRR  Pushing things through on the State-level is slow-going. There is good potential for some great mountain stages in the Sierras for the coming years though. Yosemite would make the perfect backdrop....Yo! Promoters! You got yours ears on??? Merced's building some great hotels.........hint hint hint
(....hey, it's worth a try...)

Bike Momma- The race coordinators are in need of more volunteers. One evening meeting the week before the race (not sure when in San Jose) and day of the race. Wish you could participate. T Shirt for all volunteers.
I'm a course marshal for Stage two out of Martinez.

Ugghh... I would LOVE to....but I'm not sure right now of my time commitments. I know that I'd need to be back home by 6:30/7pm (son has a basketball game ~ can't miss that!), so that means I'd need to leave 4:30/5pm, no matter what race action or cleanup effort is underway. Also, I'm not sure what time I could be there, as I might need to take the kids to school/daycare. All depends on hubby's schedule. If I have to pick up the kids, I'd need to be home way earlier.
If only SJ was closer.......sigh. Or maybe a Highway Patrol escort down the freeway...:p
Maybe you could update me on the volunteer details as the day draws near? I could maybe play a small role, do a short shift for pedestrian control, etc.

I'd check the AMGEN site and email them. They'll know better what you might be able to do!
Yeah I know- San Jose is probably the closest this race is gonna get to you this time round. What- 3 hrs if you're lucky and don't hit too much traffic?
Oh DH- please let our Bike Momma come play!:D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Mmm...SJ is about 1.5/2 hrs-ish, I think. Not too bad, especially if the freeways are flowing good.
If DH is on the same schedule then as he is now, I should be able to get there pretty early (there's a Starbucks on the way...:p ). Cross your fingers. Can't wait for this!
