Hey all you Cali girls.. Are you aware that California is going to host a stage race next month? I just saw this in my former "local" paper". There is a pic of Levi training on my old stomping grounds. I have vivid memories of Levi and his cycling stud buddies passing me like I was standing still while on traning rides. Sheesh those boys can RIDE!!
Check it out:

I'm very excited! They still need about 100 volunteers still in Santa Rosa and I can't t decide if I want to help out or ride aound. If I volunteer, they need course marshalls, so I'll get a great view, on the bad side, if I'm a course marshall, I'll only get one view. Probably one of the best side-effects of a stage ending here in Santa Rosa is that the PD is actually covering cycling in the paper!

I signed up to help, but haven't heard anything back. Anyone know who to contact to actually figure out what is going on? I live in Santa Rosa, and actually have that day off from school. Thanxxx

All these Santa Rosa girls! Where were you hiding when I lived there??! Actually I lived up in Windsor, but I grew up in Sebastopol. I think it's really cool. I actually got a chance to speak w/Levi once when I was out on a traning run and he was super cool. I have to figure some way to get OLN by this summer for the tdf. Stoopid Dish network pulled that channel. argh!
Anyway, yeah I think it's super cool. If I could figure out a way to be there I would. You never know....

CSC is going to participate !

http://www.csc.com/mms/cycling/en/ne/na/articleDetail.jsp?id=1704

"Among the Team CSC riders scheduled to compete in the event are
Americans Bobby Julich, a bronze medal winner in the 2004 Olympics and Christian Vande Velde. David Zabriskie, an early leader in the 2005 Tour de France and one of only three Americans to wear that event's prestigious yellow leader's jersey, also will compete for Team CSC."

Ah, life is good :D

Now I need to figure out how many days I can manage to take off that week.

Unfortunately it has been banished to ESPN2 with the bass fishing and ultimate obstacle course shows and is on at the god-awful time of 1am or 2am in the morning east coast time depending on the stage. I'm glad I have Tivo.....

Is anyone else planning to go as a fan? I'm staying in Malibu with friends and hope to see the stage finishes in Santa Barbara and Thousand Oaks and the Redondo Beach circuit race.

The Web site says there's supposed to be a health fair accompanying the race for spectators. It looks like it might be interesting and likely pretty spendy, knowing me! :)

I'll record the whole thing on ESPN2 while I'm away from home, but any tips for getting the best views of my favorite cyclists in person?
