Estimated to save Copenhagen 60 million a year in health care costs. Sounds like something we should have here:

How wonderful! Wish more places were like this.
We just took a trip during which we had the pleasure of visiting Yellow Springs, Ohio. They are right on the Little Miami Scenic Bike Trail (http://www.miamivalleytrails.org/little-miami-scenic-trail), which also hooks into a couple of other excellent bike trails. Flat, well-marked, and yes, scenic. We had an absolute blast cycling there...one of the best places we've ever ridden. Many states (like my own home state of NC) could learn a lot from Ohio. I had no idea!

I also heard that on NPR this morning. It sounds wonderful. I am very envious of how sensible those Dane's seem to be.
Edit: oops! Wrong country.:o
I heard this, too. I think this is a great idea. And I also wish we could have something similar. I've lived in Europe a few times and particularly when I lived in Munich felt fortunate to live somewhere that bicycles were just a part of life and that it was such a seemlessly integrated form of transportation for everyone. I've visited Denmark and I'm not surprised that connecting outlying areas is a priority for them. Copenhagen can have a lot of vehicle congestion and I'm sure this is as much a product of Danish inspiration as it is urban necessity.

Thanks for this. Interesting. Makes our London cycle 'superhighway' look like a bit of a joke: http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/bike-blog/2012/jul/18/london-copenhagen-cycle-superhighways
But it's still better than it used to be. I hope the Danes and the Dutch will eventually drag the rest of Europe along.
