Hi Veronica,
Thanks for sharing - great report. Sorry you had such a tough time on the run.

Love the fancy race numbers and medal.

The "racks" that they use look similiar to the ones used by another local race company here is Mass. Max Performance really like them as you do know where your space is :-)

It sounds like you would recommend this race. I have never done a REV3 race but heard great things about them. I am thinking about this race for next year. Ocean swims don't bother me as I grew up swimming in the ocean and actually prefer to the lakes/ponds.

Do you think the ocean water had something to do with the run not going well? I don't know because I've never done an ocean tri (not an option in the middle of the country), but I have always wondered if that salty water messes with you the rest of the day.

Sorry it was tough, but you did GREAT!! And how cool that it was in your home town. Pretty neat! Cool medals, BTW. :D

I wish I could blame that. I was just stupid and didn't eat enough.

The salt water really just made my mouth feel dry and kinda left a weird taste in it. It went away after I drank a bunch of water.

sgf - I would most highly recommend this race. It's such a fun, flat, fast course. And the organization was really top notch.

I have heard nothing but good things about rev3 races, I might have to make the trek to find/try one (no pun intended).

Ironman Florida is in the gulf, also saltwater, and 1.2 miles of that felt like forever (doing it twice was ... even more fun?). The weird taste of salt in your mouth, I swear it makes you chafe worse, and swallowing it makes you feel icky. Oh, for that first taste of fresh water after you get out! I felt grimy all day (moreso than usual).

I did a local race a couple of years ago that was co-ed and very physical, as physical as an Ironman mass start. I think a recent sprint I did had a pretty physical start, too. I have to balance being in the thick of the physical start causing anxiety or frustration with its tendency to make me swim faster.

Nothing like seeing your family, YOUR signs. Congrats on a fun race, despite a miscalculation on the nutrition. Aquabike, here you come!

Thom's uncle made a video of the race. It's here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0DuyEJPEDU&feature=youtu.be).
