Hi there,

I love the Jamis Quest Femme. Nothing like steel. I've had occasion to ride them in the past and liked the frames a lot.

I found one for sale used in my area and in a size that I've test ridden to ensure a good fit, but it's frame/fork/stem and bars only. It's a great deal, and I work with a bike mechanic that does really good builds. So I'm looking for some basic feedback on group and wheel sets.

It originally came with full 105 set (and still weighed in under 20 pounds... So much for steel being 'heavy'!) I'm debating between 105 and Ultegra. Will there be any noticeable difference in performance? It seems the only advantage of Ultegra is weight. If that's the case, the weight difference seems somewhat negligible, and for me at this time, not worth the extra expense.

I have a set of Bontrager Race X-Lites that I kind of inherited and never used. Would this be an appropriate wheelset for this frame?

Thanks in advance! Will post pics when it's done!

I'm a Campy girl myself, but everything I've heard about current 105 has been really positive. It used to be a bit more of a downgrade, but what I've read suggests that it's really improved from a performance standpoint. So, if you can handle the weight penalty, I'd strongly consider it, especially if you don't intend to use this bike for racing.

I'm sorry; I can't help you with those specific wheels. I don't know why they wouldn't be appropriate wheels for this bike though.
