The commute resumes again tomorrow!

Yippee- I get to start commuting again tomorrow after having the summer off. I teach, and truthfully, the getting to commute again is the only thing that takes the sting out of having to go back to work in those first weeks. I LOVE my job, but I equally love my semi-retirement all summer... except for missing my commute so much.
Because this summer has been so unbelievably hot and unbearable, I haven't ridden any bike (commuter, tri, road) since May when I last commuted (oh wait- excpet for a few times I mountain biked this summer). I'm looking forward to rubber meeting the road again! :)

Summer's only about half over.
I know there's regional differences, but this is crazy. I had a friend go back to work in AZ, on August 3d :eek:.
I was fine pushing the start date to the week before Labor Day when I was teaching, but August is prime vacation time around here.

if we were smart, we would go into June and start after Labor Day. The biggest school district in the state went to an extended school year, and they started on August 1st. August is the hottest month traditionally. It's been over 105 for weeks. There's no way the kids will get to go outside for recess for at least 2 more weeks because they can't be outside if the heat index is over 100. Dumb! The a/c bills alone are just outrageous. And they complain about budget cuts.... but hey dummies- it's RARELY over 100 in early June... :rolleyes:

The ride to work this morning was glorious. Cool and calm. This afternoon it wasn't burn-your-skin-off hot like it has been. What a great first day back commuting.
And the best part? I saw the Google car on the way home. Took a picture of it taking a picture of me. :)

Happy that you get your commute again but sorry that you're back so early. Schools here go back in early Sept. Still, wishing you plenty more cool lovely morning rides.

Have fun on your commutes. The weather has been very nice in the mornings. I have a short commute so I ride before work and then to work. So the crazy hot is over. Good times with nice weather for Tri Girl and others in Ok.
