Last week I was at the Kingdom TRails riding with my two nephews, and three of my customers.( some of you already know this) At any rate, once everyone was home for the weekend, one of them decided that he wanted a new mountain bike.;)
I did some research with Cannondale and GT, and found that C-dale had a couple of 2011 Jekylls on sale. I gave him the low down of each bike, and he decided on the Jekyll 4. Unfortunately, when I called the order in, it wasn't available in his size so he was happy with getting the Jekyll 5.( and I'm sure his sons will love that Dad got a new bike as well) At any rate, while checking availibility for him I realized that the Jekyll 4 was available in my size... so I bit the bullet and can't wait for it to arrive. :D YIPEE!

Cool! Gotta love a new bike! Out of curiosity, what were you riding during your trip to Vermont?

A couple of years ago, I bought a KHS Alite 2000 and was riding that. That is the only mtn bike I've ever had that fit me so well right out of the box. I will definitely still keep that bike in the aresenal to ride because it is so comfortable.
Any more thoughts on your trip East? Will you be able to ride in Vermont at all?

We are taking our touring bikes with us (we each have a Jamis Aurora) so that we can ride the carriage roads in Acadia. Vermont will have to be a separate trip I think. We're working out our driving route right now. I think we'll follow one route out and another one back so that get a bit new scenery. Any pointers?

Yippee! New bikes rock - especially mountain bikes but I might be biased :) They have a nice review of the Jekyll 4 (http://www.pinkbike.com/news/Cannondale-Jekyll-4--Tested.html) on Pinkbike. I am only used to my XC bike so I don't know the differences between XC and All Mountain but she looks great!

Woohoo! Congrats on the new bike. I got a new Cannondale this year, and LOVE it :D. Don't do what I did though - on my second ride on the new bike, I crashed down the ravine on Sidewinder . I was fine, and all I could think about was the new bike, and what damage I may have inflicted (thankfully, none).
Enjoy! We may be headed up to VT for the day tomorrow...

p.s.
Indy - keep in mind that New England is small. I can get from my house in MA to my house in ME in about 3 hours. I can get from MA to the KT in just over 2.5. And around here - it's ALL good!

Thanks for the head's up, Shefly. I'll keep that in mind, but we're already set on bringing the touring, rather than our mtbs and have plenty on our to-do list for Acadia and the surrounding area. Plus, we're already spending 21 hours in the car each way. So even a 2-3 hour side trip sounds unappealing. I'll just have to make a pitch for a separate trip to Vermont!

Congra..for your new mountain bike but make sure you have complete riding safety gear,i mean helmets, clothing and air bags etc..
Yeah...and be sure to wear the seat belt on that new bike in case the air bags go off in a crash;)

Excellent! I have my eye on a Cannondale Tango SL once they are available!

Well, I have to admit that I am anxious for this new bike! The nice thing is that the suspension adjusts between 90-150 mm, so it'll be fun to play with. I've always owned xc bikes, so the ability to use it as I choose will be something new.:p It's actually a 2011 model, but specd very well and the color is nice as well.
Shefly, which model did you get?
Indysteel: Although it may be a tad bit slower, I always used to drive through the White Mountains (Rt2) especially in the fall. It's absolutely gorgeous anytime of year, but especially in the fall. Have fun in Bar Harbor, lots of places to ride and great views as well. Don't forget to bring your camera!!
Have a great weekend everyone!!

It's a Scalpel 1. Yes, I am spoiled. Way too nice a bike for me, honestly :). With all the carbon parts (including the fork), I am sometimes nervous about riding it!
And Indy - ditto to what Ridebikeme said about the Whites. Beautiful in the fall, or anytime for that matter. And MUCH more scenic than heading south on I-95.

Nice bike Shefly!! Over the years, I've had several in the shop and of course always had to take them for a ride:D I wouldn't say that it is too nice for you; you're simply 'testing' technology each time that you ride LOL!
