With the current fabulous sale on TE, I was going to buy a Bell Sweep helmet because it fits me like no other. I mean, stock piling a great helmet when you can get it on sale is a win-win situation, right? However, TE only stocks the flowery version of the white helmet. So, there must be a market for this stuff. Sigh.

I can see more Nature designs at least a great thing for a guy-yoga mat...trees, waves, waterfalls, leaves or sunset. Surprising there aren't more designs like this in terms of choice. Why can't a yoga mat just be a huge photo print of one these designs? (Now, it sounds like a mouse pad. :o:p)

If image of footballs, hammers calms down a guy while doing yoga, great.

Ah heck, just treat yoga mat designs like a beach towel design. Spiderman, James Bond, whatever.
I don't think dearie would choose a grey mat. He does like more exciting shades. No problem with using my purple yoga mat with light outlines of pink flowers.

I was abit surprised he chose of one his helmet as white with light turquoise green accents. He just liked the fit and wanted to be visible. His 2nd helmet is deep bronze-orange colour. No black helmet for him --ever. No black /navy blue cycling jacket either. Visibility is his game in colour selection for top part of cycling outerwear.

The closest floral thing I have in cycling wear, are swirls and wave-like designs that are abstract. For off -bike wear, I like some floral designs that usually are a single flower-like suggestion by a shoulder, rising up through the waist, etc. rather than a whole floral pattern across a top /dress. Looks more dramatic and less elderly lady like impressions.

I do wear certain solid pink shades...for off-bike/street wear, usually a strong rose pink or deeper. WEaring dark colours close to my face for cycling wear and off-bike wear just doesn't compliment me. THe older I get, I have to become more vigilant about certain dark/muted colours: it makes me look more tired/does not compliment skin tone. Any helmet colour I choose needs to be brighter or lighter in colour to off-set black hair.

My yoga mat is gray. Which is fine with me.

I don't do yoga; I use it for stretching and foam rolling.

This is pretty hysterical. I vary in my interests in girly things, however I do have a preference for them. I find girly colors more appealing to the eye.

For example, I'm on the hunt for a flotation vest and it will not be a manly burgundy or blue. I've already turned those down and am hunting for a turquoise or pink.

My yoga mat is plain turquoise and my bike helmet is two shades of gray. I want a bell helmet with a plaid pattern though.

But then, I'm known for my color and accessories. ;)

I'm not knocking wanting to look nice on a bike, nor choosing a helmet by colour (hey, I agonized for a week whether to get the red/black/white or the silver/grey Atmos), but... you have short hair. How much can even be visible under a helmet?

I really laughed at the mental image of cascades of footballs adorning a yoga mat, just so guys could feel comfortable doing yoga, though :D Great article. I tend to be very sceptical to pinked-up and feminized gear, but if it's good quality, works well and fits me well, there's nothing wrong with it looking appealing too. But in my experience the most feminized gear is usually not the top-notch stuff. Clothes, maybe, bikes and helmets, no.

Speaking only for myself ... almost none of it is visible under a helmet, almost all of it is visible sticking through the vents. This is a fashion horror that no color can assuage. :D

A few years ago, DH went to a local sporting goods store (a chain) on his way home from work, to get a couple of yoga mats when we were starting the Cyclo-Core program. He got one turquoise and one pink, just so we could differentiate them.
Then, I started going to yoga at the gym or at a studio. I was embarrassed by my bright pink mat! So now, I take the blue one. Mine seems to be thicker than the ones I see others carrying.
I could care less about graphics on a yoga mat. I definitely don't like girlie stuff, but I am not opposed to pink on jerseys or socks. I will wear a bright color top with black pants, skirt, or a suit, but mostly, my regular wardrobe is black and gray, although I have been told I should wear jewel tones (in the '80s I did).
My DH has several wild looking jerseys. Much wilder than mine.
