Next two months of our weight management challenge!
Let me know
(1) if you want to join in
(2) what your weight is on Friday the 6th of July(or whatever day works best for you)
(3) what your goal weight is for the 31st of August - if you want to, if you don't want to set a goal like that, then no worries.
I'll post the link to the chart over the weekend.

Thanks again for doing all this, Posse!! I SO appreciate the "public" accountability and comraderie of doing this with others.
I'm in!
I weighed today since I will be out of town tomorrow.
159.5
Goal weight at the end of August: 155
Cholesterol goal: 175
I'm not actively trying to lose weight (although I need to- I'm just SO over dieting at this age), I'm just eating better and continuing to workout at least an hour a day.

I'd like to be in again, too. BUT, here's the kicker. I can't weigh until July 27th (3 weeks from today) because I'm currently doing a Whole30 and one of the rules is 'no scale'. So my starting weight was actually my weight 10 days ago: 157. My goal weight for the end of August is 145.
Thanks!

Thanks for putting this together again! I managed to hit last my goal for last challenge in the past week, so maybe I can hit this one on time....it seems like my little tweak of waiting until after the commute for breakfast may be doing something....

Friday, the 13th of July. How auspicious. Up to 107 pounds, the most I have weighed since last December. Not good. Travel is not easy for maintaining weight loss. I actually have to cut calories enough to lose again.

Weight maintenance isn't easy. I want to eat a lot more than I can eat.

Even though I'm not doing the challenge (which for some strange reason seemed to backfire as I never lost weight when I was), I am happy to say I am now at my lowest weight in many months -- 104.5. I think that cutting out daily smoothies is the biggest change. Also, it's too hot to run (except maybe one short run every few weeks, on a rainy day), and I am doing yoga more often. Pretty much eating and drinking the same as I was when I weighed 3-4 lbs. more, other than the daily smoothie, which was almost like a fourth meal that I didn't need. I get plenty of fruit in my daily oatmeal, and often another piece with dinner, so I didn't need those big fruit smoothies (but they were good!)

So, I weighed 142.4 on Friday, but was pretty sure at least some of that was water. Saturday and Sunday were both 141.4, so I'll use that for my official weight this week.
Please count me in! I've been doing WW (online) since May 2011 and it happens that my weigh-in's are on Fridays. My WW goal weight is 115#.
My weight on 7/6 was 117.4
My weight on 7/13 was 114.6 (finally made my WW goal).
I want to lose 2 to 3 more pounds for buffer to help maintain at 115. So, this will be helpful.

I've a lot of physical activity planned for the next 3 days - and I know I will retain fluid from them for a couple of days afterwards (like always) so I want to make this morning's weight my "official" weigh in for the week. I see there aren't many of us this time. Posse thanks for all of your work on this, it is very helpful.

OK, so while I said I wasn't going to weigh myself until later in the month because I'm not supposed to...I had no choice but to be weighed at the hospital yesterday morning before surgery and of course, I saw the number. It was in kilograms which didn't mean much to me at the time but once I got home, I couldn't help but to convert it. :o
So yesterday morning I was back down to 151.

Possegal, would you add me in to the challenge even though you're halfway through this session?
143.5 this a.m. 138 would be a reasonable goal for 8/31.
After dinking around all year, I finally started tracking my points again in WW. Seems that without that accountability, my weight creeps inexorably upwards. I'd like to get back into my skinny clothes again! ;)
Thanks!

Folks are more than welcome to join at any time. Never a problem! I will then just put in your weight from when you join as your week 1 weight also (so the calculations work). But it is always open for joining!
New folks - are you also wanting to be added to the spreadsheet? Folks sometimes post but don't want to be in the spreadsheet. Anything you want is fine = this is all about helping and supporting folks in whatever way works best for them.
So just let me know if you want to be in the spreadsheet and I'll add you in. Anytime! :)

My weight for last week was 142.6. I had another week with extreme water retention (swollen, heavy legs) and was hoping it would be gone by now, but it's not, though it has eased up a bit. Either there's a confluence of factors causing this (hormones + long ride on a hot humid day + a few high-sodium meals) or there's something wrong with me. Hoping it's the former...

I am glad to hear that other people have such huge weight fluctuations. I seem to 'gain' and 'lose' the same 4 pounds every week - sometimes 5 or 6! Yesterday I was 2.5 pounds heavier than I was this morning. I can really feel it in my clothes and how my body feels, too. So frustrating!
I can predict it sometimes, like sushi = 2 lbs up, even if I drink a TON of water with it. Food salt seems to cause a weight spike, but a huge workout doesn't, so I must hydrate well enough when I ride, but who knows? So weird.
tulip
08-17-2012, 03:17 PM
Sushi definitely has that effect on my weight. I don't eat it much anymore because I'm very wary of grocery store sushi, and the only real sushi restaurants require a special trip because they are on the other side of town. I do like some good sushi, however.
My weight typically fluctuates by a pound or two at most during the week; it's pretty consistent since I bought a new digital scale. I've been making steady progress in the downward direction for the last five or six months. Nothing drastic, and slower than I would have liked, but noticeable nonetheless. I'll take it.

133.2 this morning.
In the first week of my Paleo experiment I lost almost 3 pounds - probably just water loss from not consuming grains. I've regained .5 lb of that but since then my day-to-day weight has been rock solid stable. Exact same weight for 6 days in a row, no large fluctuations the morning after a heavy workout or good ride. I like that change, it was frustrating to see such large swings when I knew it was 99% likely that it was simply water retention. I ascribed it to the exercise though, not my diet. This seems to show that it was diet related. In the 3 years since I started tracking diet and weight I've not seen it be so stable over even the course of one week.

I've been steady at 143 for awhile. And annoyed. There have only been a few days when I really overate. So I guess it's a portion issue. Also I'm having to eat breakfast earlier due to a schedule change at work, which has me eating lunch earlier, but dinner is still later (after gym/bike ride) so I'm probably snacking too much in the early evening.
Anyway, excuses excuses.

Caught up, I think. :)
I had lost a few pounds the week that I biked to/from work a few days. I was so psyched thinking that maybe if I can keep up that riding I can start to make a dent in the weight. Then my crash. And what is likely some depression eating. UGH. A friend took my stitches out today and said the wound is healing very nicely. I think I'll go do some test riding on Sunday. I have a tri relay in a couple weeks and while it is relatively flat, so I could ride my Kona (not like I'm very fast on my road bike), I would kind of like to have a road bike to do my leg. So better get test riding. :)

I totally forgot to post on Friday - up a bit to 148 lbs. Considering that I've been eating more starches than normal, I'm not surprised. I suspect it's water.
Catrin - I notice the same thing. Honestly, the only time my weight fluctuates a lot is if I eat a relatively large bunch of carbs for one reason or another. In my case, its usually in the form of white potatoes. I love me some white potatoes (even plain!) and since they don't bother me digestively at all, I have a hard time resisting them.
Possegal - I hope you are ok! Heal quick!
