I'm due for a new pair, I have a well used pair of specialized mtb comp. I'm looking to get the ones with a carbon fiber sole because I need the stiffness so the cleat won't press into the part of my foot that hurts. The pedorthist who made my orthotics can make a pair of carbon fiber inserts for my bike shoes and I'm wondering if I should do that or just spring for new bike shoes.

The LG shoes I got last summer came with this neat heat-moldable insert. Basically you stick it in the oven for a bit to make it warm and then slide your feet into the shoes with it in there and it molds to your insole perfectly. These shoes are supremely comfortable.
These are the shoes on LG's web site. (http://www.louisgarneau.com/us-en/product/305570/1487082/Road/WOMEN_REVO_XR2_SHOES)
Love them. Thought they might work for you instead of having to get a professional to make you an orthotic.
