Anyone use a Camelbak who have had a significant whiplash injury in the past? Does the shoulder strap appear to cause problems in a long ride? I used my pack as always for a 3 hour ride Saturday but afterwards had a lot muscular pain behind my collar bone when I tried certain movements - the neck muscles in that area were where my whiplash first manifested and was the worse of it (Scalenes and SCM). It was fine while I was still on the bike, it was only afterwards that it became apparent.

Just wondering if others have had a similar problem. If this continues I may need to eventually invest in a different type of pack that doesn't put so much pressure in that area, I know they make one but am loathe to go that route if I don't have to. I love my Luxe and it is already paid for. I did detect a little of this on my mtb ride this morning but that was only an hour...and part of the reason I stopped when I did though it could have still been left from Saturday.

Lots of Camelbak issues this week!

Ok ask a fellow rider to look at you while riding halfway through a ride.

Are you subconciously hunching your shoulders up? I used to do that and had lots of shoulder and neck pain.

You might need to train to relax your shoulders. One way I broke the habit was by purchasing a Camelbak Racerbak vest (I cannot reach and drink from my bottle due to a shoulder injury). The vest supports the bladder in a pouch and totally removes straps of a bag so I found I wasn't hunching my shoulders anymore and still could use a Camelbak.

I generally ride solo, but will ask when I've the chance. This hasn't been a problem before and I've been using it for 2 years. This led to my question about others with whiplash injuries having problems with them since I am coming back from one.

I can't reach and drink from a bottle either...and even if I could there isn't room for a cage on my mountain bike and I wouldn't go that route if I could for mtb. Just too much dirt gets kicked up. There IS a different hydration pack design that removes all pressure from that area. Kind of odd looking but am hoping to get my existing pack to work.
