View Full Version : I Love My New LUNA!

After deciding not to get the Specialized Ruby, I checked into Luna Cycles website and thought I'd get a customized bike. Under the pre-built bikes, I saw a beauty---Eclipse road bike black with dusty pink flames. Buying it would save me a few $$$$, which appealed to me. I wasn't sure the frame would fit, so I got in touch with Margo, the Luna Lady. She was superb. She responded promptly to all my questions, ran all my numbers and deemed the bike a good fit. She even replaced the stem for me at no charge! I figure it was fated, so I sent Margo a check and the bike arrived on the 23rd. Last night, I picked it up at the LBS where I had it put together. I took a short test ride this morning, and I am in heaven. The bike fits like a glove and rides like butter. Very agile, responsive, comfortable, etc. The guys at the LBS were raving about it---STEEL frame, etc., as were other customers. I think the photo of the bike is still posted on Luna Cycles website, if anyone wants to take a gander. It's the black prebuilt Eclipse. My only sort-of regret was not asking her to put on a pink Chris King headset. That would have looked awesome w/the pink flames. Got a pink water bottle holder on order from Terry, too. :-)
I think my future bikes will be Lunas. This experience was excellent, from the very pleasant experience of dealing with Margo to getting a high-quality, well-made bike that fits & rides like a dream. Next time, I'll get her to make one for me. Now I'm itching to get a cyclocross bike!!

congrats! i'm glad you had better luck than i did with margo.... i was all scheduled to get a custom from her.. she was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay of schedule.. hard to deal with... didn't read what i was saying in my emails (as far as design... she'd come up with some really off the wall things  ) UGH... difficult to deal with on components... just difficult all around.... i just stopped the whole process and got my ruby instead... i would NEVER recommend margo to anyone! but that's just me and my awful experience!
have fun with your new bike!

Cali, Did you just recently get a ruby. I remember you having a Dolce as I have the Dolce Comp. I would love to know if there is much difference in the ride between the Ruby vs Dolce. Not having a triple crank on the Ruby just sways me the wrong way because there are times when I do use that granny gear.

Caligirl -- Whew, doesn't sound like the same Margo I dealt with. Sorry you had a negative experience because my bike is just wonderful (I named it Hugh, after my Dad--he died this past June). Oh well, it worked out for the best for you, as I remember the pics of you w/your Ruby and you looked so happy. :-) Admit that I still love the Ruby, but I just didn't want to go w/a carbon frame.

mickchick.... my problems weren't with luna bikes... everything i've read about them.. they are wonderful bikes! my problems were with margo! (which i guess.. is luna bikes....) and i just went to look at your.. very pretty with the pink flames!! and i agree.. it screams for the pink chris king stuff (not just the headset! all the parts! lol!)

Ah.... a new bike!!! Better than a new pair of shoes. Better than a romp in the hay (because it will never leave the milk out to spoil.)
Congrats! Here's to many miles of downhills, tailwinds and smooth, traffic free roads! (Raises water bottle in toast...)
I will have to admit - my percosetted-brain thought "why is she excited about a candy bar...?"

Hmmm...romp in hay vs. new bike....um, can I have both, please? :p
I am chem-free (unless you count dark chocolate), but I initially thought, "Luna Bar?" too!
Enjoy the heck out of your new bike, mickchick! YAY! :D Lise

dogma...you are killing me girl...at 42 and a recent stroke victim I am thinking a new bike just might rank up higher than a romp in the hay also!!:D
