We've had a thread about yoga tops, so here's one about yoga bottoms.
I'm currently wearing sweatpants/pajama pants (bear in mind I'm doing this in the comfort of my own living room right now), but the extra fabric is getting annoying. Suggestions?

Do you have a pair of lycra tights without a chamois? Those can be a little iffy for Tree pose and anything else where you need to brace weight against the side of your leg, but other than that, they're fine.
My very favorite yoga pants are a loose pajama-type capri with a drawstring. They're Underarmour, but discontinued long ago, I found them on closeout four or five years ago. Wish I'd bought a second pair. But if you see anything similar in the stores, I'd jump on that.

If was doing yoga in the privacy of my own home, I'd just wear shorts with a bit of spandex in them if you won't otherwise be too cold. Otherwise, just look for a workout pant or capri that is comfy and doesn't otherwise impede your movement in any way. It doesn't have to be yoga specific and there are lots of options out there that don't cost an arm and a leg.
As it is, I don't do yoga in the privacy of my own home. I wear some Nike Dri-Fit pants that I've had forever and that have really held up. They're semi-fitted through the thigh but a bit wider from the calf down. When it comes to tree pose, I have to hike the pant up to my thight because the fabric is otherwise too slippery for my foot to hold. I'd just wear shorts to my class, but I'm not a huge fan of my legs, and they're not something I want to stare out/obsess about while in poses like downward facing dog.

I just wear shorts at home..well, actually I'm always wearing shorts home even in the middle of winter.
At yoga class I used to wear non-chamois lycra shorts.
I've always wondered about the bell-bottom yoga pants. It does look as if it will get in the way occasionally.

I've never had a problem with my yoga pants, Shootingstar. If they were too long for me, they would probably bother me, but otherwise I don't notice them. I'd say about half my yoga class wears them, while the other half wears some form of a Capri, either form fitting or loose.

Okay, my one pair of chamois-less tights are out--they're Sugoi Midzeros--a little warm for the next...four months, probably!
I really don't like knit fabrics (unless yoga pants have some spandex content?) because the knees get all stretched out after a few wearings.

again- if nobody is around to see- just wear shorts. That's what I do at home. So what that my booty hangs out a little when I'm doing down dog. Nobody is around to see, but the dogs, and they haven't once complained. :)
Otherwise just buy a pair of cheap stretch capris (like the Vera Wang ones at Kohls for $15) or something like that.

Yoga pants have some lycra. I've had the same pair for 5 years.
I mentioned this in the running capri thread, but I got a very flattering pair of capris made by a company called Alo, which is a yoga wear company. They are expensive, but I got them on sale. I wear them at the gym, in boot camp, where we are in all kinds of poses, as well as running.

The Champion C9 capris at Target are nice enough, too.

+1 on the Champion capris at Target. I also have a pair of Prana capris that I found on a really good sale. In the winter I sometimes wear my smartwool tights.

I've had good luck in the past at places like Marshalls and TJMaxx for yoga capris, you might try there. I've had more trouble with full-length yoga pants because it seems that many brands run a bit long.
