The rider of a velomobile (fully enclosed aerodynamic shell on a bicycle) nearly got hit by a bottle tossed from a car. He caught the whole thing cleanly on the video, though hard to see the bottle. I want lots of people to hit the youtube video so he can take it to the sacramento police and force them to take action. As it stands, they don't seem to care (because its a funky, organic lettuce munching, weirdo).

Sacramento, Stockton and Fresno have a reputation for being backward. It's not SF, Berkley, Los Angeles or any place like that.

Okay, "Liked" the video, too. Back in the early '90s when I rode a lot, I've had fruit thrown, been water cannoned, all that fun stuff. Sad, really sad statement on how people treat others.

ETA: I've been experimenting running with two video cameras - 1 forward, 1 backward. Mostly for fun, but you never know.

I can't see the license plate or the passenger's face. Unless the original video has the resolution to have captured those, it would be tough to prosecute.

It s*cks, but that kind of thing happens all the time, and I don't think even an "enlightened" city would prosecute, even with evidence, unless the bottle actually hit the guy and caused him to crash.

I don't understand the concept of "liking" such videos. Regardless of the number of views, it is unlikely the police will do anything. First, it was not the driver, but a passenger. If detained, the passenger would claim he was just littering. Totally anti social behavior.

Last summer, when a car passenger threw a pizza box and coins at me, he was arrested and charged with "launching a missile". He got 30 hours community service. The car was also filled with goods stolen from cars broken into at the beach. I never heard what happened to the driver, but he was facing felonies. Yay Narragansett PD!

It's pretty amazing what we can do with image processing software. if you have a blurry picture, there are algorithms available to sharpen it up. If you have a double exposure, the software can separate out the two images. and on. Think of CSI TV shows. Its not too far off.

And if you've ever seen deep space image from Hubble telescope and you thought wow look how sharp the image, well raw photo looks like a bunch of colored tile put together and you wonder what it really supposed to look like.
Yet what you see are those beautiful stunning and sharp photos.

The whole idea is with the hits on the video is to get Sacramento police to notice that enough people care and have interest with this type of incidents.
