I'm riding both ways. In the am, I am joining a giant group ride that draws a few hundred people on BTWD. In the pm, riding back to SF with co-workers. About 12 miles each way.

Who else is riding on BTWD??

I live too far and through too many dangerous neighborhoods to ride the whole way. I will make a commitment to drive in, park in a lot and ride in the rest of the way. There is a church about 5 miles out that will hold my vehicle while I am at work!

Woot!!
Everyday is bike to work day for me. ;) Our official city Bike to Work day with prizes and big group rides is May 18th, but I can't join since that's the last day of school. Oh well, I miss it every year. One of these days when I retire I'm going to join all those schlubs biking to work en masse. :)

I am primarily a commuter at this point. I'm taking part in the national bike challenge this summer over at endomondo. Last week I got in 28 miles which was a record for me. I hope to only go up from there.

I'm a new rider (in the past year) and still don't have any real cycling gear besides a helmet but I'm fixing to change that this summer as my mileage goes up and I spend more time in the saddle. I ride a 7 gear hybrid Raleigh Bike.

I'm also involved with a local group that is working to get bike lanes in my city.:D

Count me in! My first time was last year, and I wasn't even working. Rode my bike to the start, got lots of goodies, then did the ride to city hall, and then home to sleep in for a bit! This year I am working, but I can at least go to the start line and get some more goodies before I bike to work.

Every day is bike to work day for me too. We're holding Bike to Work day on May 24 this year. That's because the hospital contacted me a couple weeks ago and said "We want to do something for bike safety. Got any ideas?" and I suggested they do a Bike to Work Day, but since the official date was too soon to pull it together, we just picked a different day.

We're starting a TS101 class that same day. I'm really excited about that.

Our city (Calgary) just had Bike to Work Day this past Friday. I rode as usual (nearly daily) into work. Stopped on the way to have pancakes, sausage and coffee. When I got to city hall, there were a few politicians and staff that were heading out for a bike ride to...the place where I had pancakes.

It was a media event which was important, because the city has earmarked $28 million over 3 years for cycling. There is an aggressive plan to put in more bike lanes.

I'm in!

I'm also doing the national bike challenge thing, Philly is using that as their commuter challenge this year, and our team won all three months last summer so we've gotta defend that title :)

I'll be riding, as I am a daily bike commuter, too. I co-captained this event last year as well as our local Bike Commute Challenge month. My co-captain and I are hoping to pass on the team captain hats starting with the Bike To Work week/day. :)

I realized this morning that the SF Bay area's BTWD is a week ahead of the national WTWD (moved because the Tour of California is going through SF that week!) , so that's why everyone else seems to be doing it on May 17th!

I'll know later today if I'm in. Normally, I have one client on Friday, @ 9 AM. It's a doable, if a little long 18.3 miles one way to his house. I've already scouted out an alternate for one intersection that may be an issue for me on the return... uphill light/left turn with lots of traffic. The alternative has a long climb, which adds about 4 miles, but that's ok. There may be another alternative to that
I have another appt scheduled 15 minutes after that, but we are trying to get there tomorrow instead.
I do miss commuting.

I ride everyday cuz driving in the Bay Area is a nightmare. I hope not to be bitter when the bike car on Caltrain swells.

I am in on the 17th, actually I am considering doing it this Friday as well if the weather cooperates. I've an appointment at my gym after work, but it is literally right on my commute route, and they have secure bike lockers.

Sadly, due to when I have to be at the office, I can't ride in with a large group that will be leaving from my area. Oh well, I wouldn't be normally commuting with a group anyway...

As my office is down the stairs from my house, no bike to work BUT Grant Petersen of Rivendell fame will be in town promoting his new book "Just Ride", so we are riding over to the event and then going with the group to a local brew pub for dinner.

Just getting over a torn ligament in my ankle. First short ride in over a month last night. But, I think riding slowly into work and just taking it easy Thursday will be just the ticket.
Bagels and coffee for those who show up to work on bikes - nice of the workplace to do that and I'll do anything for free food (Graduate School does that to you, even 20 yrs out, I still will do anything for free food).

the city of new orleans actually held its annual bike to work day in April, maybe because its already unbearably hot in the month of May. It was great ride with a great turn out. To all those participating, Enjoy!! :D

I'm out. I woke up with wrist pain. No work for me. I haven't missed a day of work in years, but it would be stupid to not let it rest.

Fessing up, I wouldn't ride anyway. It's pouring and windy.

I was just realizing that tomorrow is the one day this week I won't bike, because I'm going to Montreal. I'll use just about every other form of transportation except boat! But our local Bike to Work Day, May 24, I'll be here (and therefore on a bike).

Not officially a Bike to Work Day here in my city, but it was a beautiful morning to ride to work on an 'unofficial' Bike to Work Day.

I rode today, as usual. Pretty ordinary ride in, but I'm looking forward to the ride home-- the 4-lane road that parallels the MUP will be closed for regatta prep which means I won't have to deal with rollerbladers, joggers, strollers, etc, etc, etc. Yay!

Just got an email that Philly's official bike to work day is next Friday but I have jury duty next Friday. ugh! I might take it easy and ride the fixie in street clothes, but I also might just take the train. Although, showing up sweaty and disheveled might reduce my chances of getting stuck on a jury...hmmm. Bike to work day here was pretty weak last year (Albuquerque, Portland, Spokane were all WAY better) so I guess I wouldn't be missing much.

Good ride for me today. I usually try to ride several times a week.

We had a great morning for a ride yesterday and I rode with a group estimated at 400 at the start, though the red lights broke up the groups along the way. I've been riding to work a few times a week, but usually alone so this was a lot of fun!

Trek: did they play the wiggle song on Kfog? Funny

I'll be doing my 6th BTWD this Friday. Unfortunately, this year I feel like a poser since I have not yet commuted at all this year.

I thought BTWD was for people who didn't bike except in May. :)
A friend of mine said he always drove his car on BTWD because it's about "alternative transportation" and for him, biking & walking is normal and using the car is alternative!

Here is me taking part in BTWD, it is quite rare to get a picture of both me AND the bike at the same time :) It was chilly...and DARK when I left home. I've a very different set of bike clothes to wear on the ride home.

Our city dosen't start Bike To Work Week until May 28th. There is one station I hit on my commute in the morning on Wednesday, and another one I can go out of my way to hit on Friday. There is another close one, but it dosen't open until 8:00am by which time I'll already be at work >: (

I am really exited about getting a free muffin, haha.

I bike to work everyday anyway, it's faster than taking public transit and I don't have to worry about missing a connection if I'm 5 minutes late.

This week is Bike to Work Week here, and today might be The Day, but I was working at home today, so I biked when my car was having an oil change (weird, I know, but it was a gorgeous day and better than waiting in the waiting room). Tomorrow I'll bike to work in the morning, as I did on Wednesday, and then Sunday as well, which our church celebrates as "Sustainable Travel to Worship" Day - trying to encourage a variety of alternatives: carpooling, driving a hybrid, walking, as well as biking. I'll bike.

I used to bike all the time after taking the car to the shop. We only had one car, so it was either that, or I'd have to wait on the car, which sometimes was multiple days. (It was having clutch problems.)

Now the mechanic is just down the street from my office, and anyway my husband takes it in for maintenance because he's the primary user of the car. Also since we finally got the clutch issues figured out, it's only in the shop a couple times a year for an oil change. And then it's because it's been 6 months, because we hardly put any miles on it anymore.

We celebrated Bike to Work Day yesterday. The hospital had wanted to do something to promote bike safety, and I suggested Bike to Work Day. We selected May 24 as what would work best with our schedules.

Last year, we did not have anyone to sponsor this. We volunteers bought some fruit and made muffins, got some coffee donated, no prizes or anything. We had 3 stations which drew 100 people, but most of those were students. The downtown station, which would be the hospital & med school employees, only got about 10 people.

So this year our goal was to get more than 10! We got 30-35, which is really what I was hoping for.
