after a horrific drive from Houston to New Orleans that literally took 10 hours thanks to the sudden closinbg of all east bound traffic on the interstate, having to be part of a cross country convoy of trucks and autos follow the less than adequate detour signs through the countryside on two lane no shoulder roads, at three miles an hour to cover 20 miles so we could get back onto the interstate, and a horrific , rain like a cow pissing down on a flat river rock, flash bang thunderstorm from Baton Rouge to New Orleans and fighting the jazz festival crowds through the French Quarter to get to the starting hotel,i I have spent an enjoyable day meeting the other 29 ladies doing the ride, including my sister who I haven't seen for several years. Tomorrow we ride and I will do the whole ride in celebrate my first year of chemo therapy and survival after breast cancer and a mastectomy last spring.
There is a rumor that there might even be some tail winds! but it will be enough for me if yesterdays storm was not an omen of things to come.
