I pretty much stopped blogging when I joined Facebook two+ years ago...but it really isn't the best place to chronicle my 2-wheeled adventures. Many of my friends don't care about it, some probably find it over the top, and since my Mother asked to befriend me on FB I find that I tend to really limit what I post so she won't worry. So, back to Wordpress I go. If I am the only reader then that is fine, it can be my journal.
Trails and Pavement (http://trailsandpavement.wordpress.com/) is my new blog. Over the next week or so I will likely write a couple of posts that will bring my 2-wheeled adventures to date and then see how it goes.
woo hoo! I'll follow you :D
I'll follow you too!
Nobody cares when I say I rode on FB unless it's something drastic like 100 miles. Then I just get people telling me how insane I am.

My latest blog post in Cycle Write Blog, has pics of cherry blossoms that one sees riding around Vancouver BC. Yea, there are pics.
It was a real vacation for me.
I don't get the impression Facebook is easily searchable anyway..

I'm looking forward to it. Remind us when you post something!

I don't think FB is searchable, though that would be nice. I think that I've sort of tried to treat it like a blog more often than not, and it just doesn't seem to work well that way. I've friends who couldn't care less what I do outside, and then I've others who race mountain bikes and do such awesome things that I almost hate to say much of my own activities.
This way I get to treat it like a blog, since it is, and it seems more of a voluntary following than FB. Not that FB isn't voluntary, it is just different. Thanks for the votes of confidence :)
I hear you Grey, been there as well. Pretty darned awesome you rode a century :)

This reminds me, I need to post pictures from my ride two weeks ago...
Following you. :D

More like being lassoed in FB due to friending someone and the whole concentric circle of nameless/unknown "friends".

And I'll put you in the blog roll :)

Yes, and I get more and more resistant to posting status updates that are more personal than the occasional "whooo hoooo, great ride", or to post a picture of my bike amidst pretty scenery. I suspect that likely gets tiresome for those who couldn't care less.
It is now official, I made two posts - a two-part bike love thread. Nothing new to anyone who knows me from here - and I didn't mention any of my injury related hiccups along the way ;)
Thanks Limewave - and I love the count-down on yours! When I have time I will start a blogroll on mine as well and will include all of the TE blogs I know of.

I am going through exactly this same crisis. I need to update my blog which I haven't added to for a year due to life and FB, but I use it to document my cross country bike rides and I am leaving next week to do a south to north ride from New Orleans to Lake Itasca, MN along the Mississippi River.
I can be found at cloggiespinner.blogspot.com and you could probably search find my blog about the Southern Tier 2009, and the Underground Railroad in 2007 or 2008 if you searched. If nothing else the photos should be fun and perhaps give a sense of what these epic rides are like.

Wordpress hates me, but I'll add you in as well somehow.
I have a quilting blog and put my cycling in with it. There was no point in having two blogs to manage when I thought about it. I figure I just bore all the quilters out there with my ramblings, but having a blog really helps.

This is why I blog about other stuff in addition to cycling. For certain, I don't use my blogs as cycling training blogs. I don't expect people spending precious personal time to know my heart rate, etc.
I like reading about other people's cycling adventures both local and elsewhere. It's always great to get blog comments/visits from other cyclists.
Having a blog has been handy especially for those who do know me personally, instead of me clogging up their email with photos. My family and friends don't use facebook and are familiar with me enjoying to "tell a story" with photos.
And a personal blog, for easy reference when I chat with others on various topics.

I agree entirely about not using a blog as a "training" blog - it is more about about the spirit than the science, I like that :) I also have a needlework blog that is a combination of needlework and Orthodoxy - adding bikes to the mix really was just too much...though I've not posted there in a couple of years as well.
Marni - I will look for you, thank you!
Bethany - I remember having issues with Wordpress when I originally moved from Blogspot. I wouldn't go back though - and I would love to see your quilting/bike blog so feel free to send me a message with the link if you don't want to make it public here.

I've followed a bunch of yours officially now :) I'll throw my blog out too, although it's primarily written about training, fundraising, and riding in the ALA's Big Ride. The blog is as much for my friends and family as it is for future Big Riders who wonder how on earth you raise $6,500 and how you train to ride 3,300 miles in a year. I'm still figuring it all out myself!

It's interesting to me how diverse our blogs are. Cycling is so many topics really. Tours, mountain biking, training, you name it. Mine is bike advocacy (http://www.kirksvilledailyexpress.com/community/blogs/bicycling_and_walking_around_kirksville)

Have enjoyed reading through several blogs. Here's mine:
Quilted-With-Love (www.quilted-with-love.blogspot.com)
Blogger just changed everything funky so I might be changing. They are almost as bad as Facebook at messing with perfectly good formats.
I just added my cycling in with my quilting when I started cycling.

Most interesting and relevant bike blog I keep isn't really a blog, it's a pintrest account. Pintrest is a site where you "pin" images from other sites; the source is always included too if you want to know more. Basically it's a bunch of cool/funny bike pictures I put together with little commentaries:
my pintrest bike board (http://pinterest.com/ugmotaur/bikes/)
The blog I update the most is my livejournal, but it's more a tool I use to keep track of things going on in my life, art, bike milestones, pets, events. Things I don't want forget. But you need to have to have a livejournal account to view it, I keep it as friends only. In case any of you are interested:
my livejournal (http://rye-bunny.livejournal.com/)
I post most of my drawings on tumblr. It's something I just started, so there isn't much on it yet, and none of my old stuff:

I also have a needlework blog that hasn't been updated in ages. I like to make my own patterns for cross stitch & free hand, but I've been taking a break lately.
http://www.hand-dyedfibers.com/oscnuked/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=27715
That was the last thing I did (I have a snake icon on my embroidery board too, of course)
Catrin, where is your needlework blog?

Catrin, where is your needlework blog?
It isn't just a needlework blog, it is a combination of needlework, Greek Orthodox ponderings (my church), and also is the home of my very first bike musings. The blog really hasn't been active since late 2009. Back in 2008-2009 much of my embroidery was liturgical in nature, but not all. I had forgotten that I had originally considered a Trek Pure before conversations on this forum led me to discard that idea quickly.
The Stitching Garden is found here (http://orthstitcher.wordpress.com/). There is a recent post showing a completed needle-painting (long-short stitch) project I made for a friend of a wild rose.

Anataresia, you have patience to do a pinterest bike board. I see some wierd wonderful stuff and photograph --either it just gets piled up in personal digital photo collection or it gets put into a blog somewhere.
Cycling really has allowed me to see some stuff, that's easy to miss otherwise.
One thing I don't understand is yarn-bombing a bike: I guess it's a form of people's art on a bike..that gets dirtied up quickly? Or a way to display a bike in an arresting way.

Catrin, your needle work is lovely! I've never been able to get the hang of needle painting, I feel like the stitches don't line up properly, or cover properly, and then sometimes the fabric warps a little. Anyway, I just updated my Flickr:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/31428192@N04/
I just checked my "freebie" folder on my HD, it has over 1,600 files and is over 530MB big. Nothing but freebie patterns I've found on the internet and saved, mostly cross stitch.
shootingstar, pinning is easier for me than any other method of saving images (mostly because I do some of it from my computer at work). There is a button you add to your browser that allows you to pin anything with one click, it's fast and it saves the source. Saving the source is the biggest reason I prefer pinning to just copying images to my HD. Plus I can share everything this way!
