I tried these shorts on 2 rides of less than 15 miles each. My mom tried them on one ride of about 5 miles.
The shorts are a size XL with a 7" inseam. They offer some compression on my 38" hips. They fit my mother's 36" hips like a regular pair of size medium shorts with normal compression.
They're in like-new condition. I got the best photos that I could to show the condition. Bike shorts are really hard to photograph!

Just curious...what didn't you like about these shorts? I've heard lots of great reviews on both the long and shorter version of these...but haven't really come across many bad reviews. Also...in your saddle post below, you mentioned that your mom is 110lbs...and that these XL's fit her. Yikes! I'm way more than 110lbs...so I'm wondering if an XL would even fit me.

Mom and I were both blessed with ample thighs. The shorter shorts gave me pronounced sausage leg. The legs of the shorts also crept up on my full thighs.
Mom didn't get sausage leg because she is proportionately smaller than I am. The legs of the shorts stayed in place on her.
These shorts fit Mom without any more compression than standard small or medium size shorts. They fit me with a significant amount of compression. My hips are 38" over the hip bones and I weigh 135#.
Does that info help?

Do they fit much differently from the long version? I'm 120#, 37" hips and pretty heavy in the thighs, and the long Neo Powers fit me fine in Large with not much compression at all.

Hmmm...now I'm really questioning whether these shorts would fit me. I am solidly in the 150's (probably closer to 160) and most of my shorts/tights are either a M or L...but I suspect that even the XL in these may not work for me. :(

Oak, I've never tried the longer LG's so I can't compare them to the short version. Based on my experience with Terry Bella shorts in both the 8.5" version and 6" version, both lengths fit about the same but the shorter Bellas also creep up on my legs. I suspect that I would be comfortable in the longer LG's but I don't want tan lines just above my knees. Also, I think that I could have fit into the large size LG's but the XL was still compressive.

nscrbug, it would have helped if I had told you that I'm 5'1", 135#, with 38" hips. That should give you a better idea of my weight distribution since I tend to carry more weight in my hips and thighs. I'm not really a pear shape but definitely heavier below the waist.
I think that you could easily get away with LG's in XL if you normally wear M or L. So much of the fit in these shorts seems to be related to a person's weight distribution. I suspect that "leaner" women with more even weight distribution would be happy with the LG's. I'm not sure that very curvy women will like them much.
Another piece of info that may help is that I normally prefer size L in Terry Bella's which are made of heavier fabric but not as heavy as the LG's. I'm good with size M in lighter weight shorts.

I got a pair of the longer shorts in large based on the size chart, and they fit me fine. It's possible a medium would fit better, since the large is not super compressing for me, but then again a medium might be too snug at the waist.
I've worn Shebeest Century and SSS shorts for years, and with those I wear a medium.

Large fits me perfectly, and I'm smack on the line between small and medium in the Shebeest SSS. I have a couple of pairs in each size and I wear them all.
