This is kind of just a thread for sheer commiseration... does anybody else get the whole misshapen mid section after a ride longer than an hour? It's like my middle insists on remaining kind of squashed into the front side from being n the bike for so long! It's even worse the longer the ride goes. I finished my ride at 7 pm and I'm still misshapen around the midsection. It's cracking me up!

Am I alone here?

No, the belly fat kinda takes over :( and just hangs out as if to say "you try'n to get rid 'a me? I'm stubborn and I aint goin nowhere!". Or maybe I'm just too tired after a ride to suck it in :o.

I guess it's a little like the evil opposite of how when you sleep all the fat and jiggle parts just settle into really happy evenly spread out places and gravity hasn't taken over yet.

I don't think there's a choice but to use your core during intense rides or 40+ mile rides.

I'm talking about how in a road biking position, you're very hunched over, and gravity pulls all the 'soft tissue' ;) right to the front of the body. After I get off the bike it all seems to stay there all bunched up for a while like I'm totally misshapen. It's pretty comical.

I wonder if you might be a bit dehydrated. Things just don't spring back like they might if you are fully hydrated.

No worries on hydration, I don't think. With all the riding I do I drink from my water bottle all day long. I know what you mean though!

I'm just curious if this happens to anyone else... It's pretty much only noticeable to myself-- I had to point it out to my boyfriend who kind of shrugged and said he couldn't tell. So... shrug?

underneath all that subcutaneous fat on my belly is a solid wall of muscle. Does that count?:D

Maybe you're bloated from too much water/not enough sodium?

lol it's good to know I'm either legit crazy or uniquely equipped around the middle :o. I have no idea. I just got back from a 25 mile ride... I'm going to investigate!
