I just caught this film called The Ride last night on Showtime. Maybe it was already discussed on this forum, but has anyone else seen it? It covered a coast-to-coast ride by the guy who I think hosts The Great Race (I've never watched that show, so I'm not sure what his connection is, but they kept mentioning it)

It was really inspiring and I found myself not wanting it to end!

I have been wanting to see it. I did a search to see when it would be on and could not find anything.

Thank you for posting. If you or anyone else knows when it might be repeated, please post.

Thanks

I remember reading something about it last year but didn't know it was on. Thanks for letting us know. I would love to see it.

Thanks for pointing it out Jen12! It's on our list to watch. Phil Keoghan hosts "The Amazing Race" on CBS, which we really like. He's a good guy, and this looks like a great documentary. :)

grueling and 40-day seem a bit incongruous. That is, after crewing RAAM, which does around the same distance in six days...
You might want to see "Bicycle Dreams," which is about the RAAM solo race.

Hope I get to see that movie. Bicycle Dreams is also a good one :)

I saw it, and loved pretty much every minute. Obviously, not as grueling as RAAM, but still, 100 miles a day, without the chance for a day off, even if the weather gets bad, or you crash on RR tracks, or the winds are so bad all your friends are in the support van, well, is grueling! I watched it with my parents, who finally get a sense of how happens to mind, body and spirit on a long ride.

Oh, you're totally welcome. I just did a search on sho.com for "ride", and it came right up. :)

Hope we get to see it -- and you too! We're just trying to figure out what time zone our Showtime channels are. Now that the US is on DST, we're two hours behind EDT. Some of our movie channels are on eastern time, some western, so it's very difficult to figure out what time anything is on. As a result, we rarely watch movies!

I'll check that one out. I read Hell on Two Wheels, which is about RAAM. The toll that one takes on the body is nuts. Six days or 40 days...they're just a different kind of grueling.
