Okay I have these on my watch list in Quality Bicycle Products
I have the trail running shoe that looks very similar so am thinking this could be a great shoe for me for touring. Anyone have any feedback

I have them... got them from TE last summer to use on a fall bike tour. So far I've been wearing them without the cleats installed, but like having that option for down the road. They are comfortable like tennis shoes and seem to run true to size. Sole is slightly stiffer than a running shoe, but not overly rigid.

I have a pair of PI Alp-X shoes from a year or two ago that I use for commuting. They have nearly the same sole as the shoes you've posted. They're comfortable and easy to walk in, so they're perfect for running errands. They're definitely not as stiff as my Sidi Dominators, so I wouldn't want to do major mileage, but they're fine for shorter rides.

Thanks, I think I will get them and see how it goes. I also like the top/ankle design of the Pearl Izumi X-Alp Drift II and the bungee lacing but was wondering if there would be heel slip?

I once wore shoes with laces on my bike. The laces loosened, and one got caught in my chain. I didn't fall, but it could have been a nasty fall. I immediately bought new shoes with velcro straps and I will not even consider bike shoes with laces. All of my 4 (or is it 5?) pr. of bike shoes have straps. Be careful!

Know what you mean about laces getting caught in the chain! That's one of the nice things about these PI bike shoes... that grey patch at the end of the tongue is actually a stretchy "lace garage" that lets you tuck the ends out of the way. I've never had them come out.

I also got a pair of these last summer. They are the most comfortable pair of bike shoes I have (I have 4 others counting my bike sandals). The tough has a pocket to tuck the laces in so that need not be a worry. They are cool, comfortable, and work great off the bike as well as on. I keep a bike and set of gear at my office for noon riding and it always seems like these shoes are in the wrong place <G>
