Riding & Renting around Dallas and Austin?

Am thinking about visiting a friend in the Dallas area. We used to ride together before she moved. Would like to ride with her again but I don't really want to lug my bike out there. While I'm out there, thought I'd visit Austin as well so looking for similar info for Austin as well.

So.. in Dallas

1. Where's a good place to rent a bike?
2. What are some good routes? (She recently moved and hasn't been riding)

Oh.. and food recommendations are always welcome:p

Try Richardson Bike Mart for bicycle rental. I have never rented from them, but have purchased all my bikes (and those for my boys) there. They have a location near White Rock Lake that would work well as you could rent and then cross the road and ride a block or two before reaching the White Rock Lake path.
