I've volunteered to design this year's Big Ride Across America jersey and my account rep at Primal Wear suggests that I narrow my options down to two or three by the time I send them off to the other riders for voting. I plan to do 6 or 7 (maybe more) designs, but for now, I've got three. I'll update the thread each time I come up with another.

Your feedback will be helpful-- I can do variations on a theme... change colors around, etc.

Jersey #1 (my first photoshop sketch)

Jersey #2

I'll pause to say I'm not terribly worried about black being too hot because I've got a number of black jerseys and the fabric is so wicking that I think the difference in temp from a lighter fabric is negligible.

Jersey #3 The HIGH VIZ one

More to come, but for now, feel free to comment away on the jerseys. The designers at primal wear will make my sketchy sketches look amazing naturally, but these mock ups will do for now.

I really like the concept of #1, with the coastal landmarks and the map on the back. My only concern is that the design might currently be too wide, as placed, and get clipped in larger sizes. Could it be compressed a little?

I like the first concept:

*colours most agreeable to both male and female
*Bolder/higher contrast, simple imagery that stands out to the eye the most from far away

So maybe to get to the Seattle Space Needle ..the Statute of Liberty in NYC needs to be plopped there? :p

I like 1 & 2. Are there any local sponsors that are going on the jerseys? If so would you put that on the sleeves.

Well we're going from Seattle to D.C. so I chose relevant imagery (the capitol and the washington monument). And yes, I can definitely compress it. I didn't worry too much about design elements and their spacing or whether they cross the 'threshold' only because the designer will take my sketch and make it work. :)

I too like the first one the best ;) It's hard to go from there and make new ones.

Based on the previous years jerseys, I don't think there are local sponsors. I'm not sure what I'll do with the sleeves in that case!

What about moving the landmarks to the shoulders/sleeves, as a variation on the first design?

Just thinking out loud....it's tough to come up with more ideas when you've come up with a great one right away!

I like the first one. Good colors and design. I prefer it without the bike images.

Good to know... it will probably be very obvious we're bicyclists :D

Ok! I modified the first jersey design-- actually used type for the lettering and made the gradient mo betta

I also made the sleeves blue:

I like design 1 better than 2 and 3, and 1B better than 1A. The blue sleeves "go" better than the black.

I like design 1 and like 1B the best too! Could you put a bike or a shadow of a bike on the "road" on the back of the jersey? Just a thought! It doesnt have to be center of the road but would look cool!

I like 1a, 2 and 1b, but 1b the best. :)

Thank you for all the feedback! And if anyone has any ideas, let me know. I'd hate to think that 1B is the best I can do!

Make the ride name bigger? I hate jerseys where you have to squint to find out what the jersey is about because company logos etc take over. The jersey is about the ride and it's name and what you have participated in.

I don't think that's an issue. We spend evenings in small towns and cities interacting with all kinds of people face to face. They'll be able to read what's on the jersey ok. The jerseys over the last few years had the logos a similar size on the front and back, but the side panels have it realllly big for passing cars.

Ooo plus, we have a big van + car on either end of the group with big logos :)

I LOVE the first one and the tweaks you've already made to it...such a cool ride. Maybe someday I'll be in a position to do it, myself. As an asthmatic that would be an especially meaningful experience.

Design 1B has my vote. I like the landmarks are in silhouette and the color gradient on the front.

What's amazing about this ride is that people ages 16 to 70 something do it. It's a nice relaxed cross-country trip. You can hammer if you want, but why bother? There's ~80 miles of USA to take in each day. I can't wait!

Another quick modification to the backside. I added a black gradient. I need to make another jersey, even if this one may be the winner:
