Ok, so I originally posted this in the wrong forum- oops! Let's try this again...

I've had my TPE mat for about a year and a half now, and I've noticed that it's becoming stretchy. When I'm in postures like downward dog, warrior I/II, triangle, etc., the mat stretches between my "anchor points". Granted, the TPE has always felt a bit elastic to me, but this is becoming disconcerting and distracting...

I haven't practiced yoga long enough to know if I've worn out a mat, but Google tells me that stretching is a sign of wear. Experienced practicioners, would you replace it? If so, with what?

Many thanks in advance!

After a day of researching, I think the next mat will be a Manduka ProLite... Thoughts?

I got an EcoWise mat at TJ Maxx for about $14. It's thicker than the old mat I had and a little friendlier on my back.

Sounds like I need to go look at TJ Maxx today.

I don't really want to spend a lot but, more importantly, I don't want to have to spend often. If extra money gets me a longer-lasting mat and keeps a few of them out of the landfill, then so be it.

Another one for TJ Maxx, that's where I bought mine and I love it:)

I don't "recycle" mine, per se, but they get an extended life as a litterbox mat when I'm done using them for me. Much easier to clean than an unfinished concrete floor!
