Bluetooths (blueteeth?) Need advice

Due to years of barking dogs, my hearing isn't great. Plus, I have really small ear canals. I've purchased a couple of Jawbones but they are very uncomfortable (too big) and the sound quality isn't great. I've been on Amazon & see that they have good reviews on the Motorola HX550 Universal & it's priced right (under $50.)

I don't need talk to text, make my lunch, or anything like that. I just want to hear & be heard. Unfortunately, it seems the higher end sound comes with all of that stuff - so be it.

Does anybody have a bluetooth that they love? Hate? Help!

I have an overpriced BlueAnt and some cheapie bluetooth. My Droid phone doesn't have voice commands but my cheapie dumb phone does so both bluetooth adaptors don't work very well using it.

However; my cheapie one 30 bucks? seems to work better than my BlueAnt (70ish?) I think it's a Motorola. Earpiece might be kind of big but most of them are.

I've lost two Jawbones, got irritated at myself, and bought the standard Radio Shack wired one in bright pink. It's so hideous, I would never wear it outside the car, and my windows are tinted, so no one can see it on me in the car. $20. It goes over my head, has the boom mic, and I look like Madonna when I wear it.

Unfortunately the rule of thumb with Bluetooth headsets is that you get what you pay for. You pay not only for more features, but better sound quality. The most popular ones I see sell are the plantronis voyager pro plus ($99 msrp) and the blueant Q2 ($99). I just bought the blueant T1 $79 (because I have to be on stupid conference calls during the morning while I'm trying to get ready for work and my speaker phone just doesn't suffice). Its kind of ugly but has good sound quality, but isn't super loud. It also comes with multiple earbuds to try and an earhook. We don't sell the higher end Jabra Bluetooth headsets, but I've heard people like them. I hate to say it, but most places have a 30 day return policy... and then amazon is usually cheaper. And I hope that it goes without saying, but just in case, do not buy a used headset.

Like so many other things, it seems like you pay for features you'll never use. The higher end bluetooths have voice text messaging, you can listen to music & podcasts (I have an IPod for that, thanks anyway), etc. All I want is good sound quality. My texting is usually limited to riding partners, e.g., "I'm on my way."

I'm looking at the Plantronics that you mentioned because it has an earhook. I have problems wearing earbuds because they're all too big.
