Being healthy and....putting my new homemade Nomato sauce on everything!! Oh yes, watching my cats play and grateful for every day we have with our little Koala...

Happiness to you is what?

Happiness to me is that a lot of things make me happy. DH getting home from work, my cats' nutty little behaviors, a good yoga class, a glass of champagne, planning our next vacation, a strong run or ride, a moving story on NPR, lunch with my best friend, making a new recipe that turns out well, finishing a satisfying book, making my DH laugh. Lots of stuff.

Oh, and ice cream! Because I'm bad like that.

Happiness for me, is waking up in the morning, well that's the first thing that makes me happy :p but then knowing my partner and my son and his family are all well and coping with everything in life.

Gone are the days worrying about fashion and going shopping and wanting something I cannot afford, now it's about contentment and knowing the nice warm feeling inside cuddling my grandson and of course my grand-dog. :)

It's kinda got lots of rewards getting older, well, apart from the aches and pains.

Happiness is:
my little black kitty cuddled up all night under the covers; my hubby cuddled up under the covers (when the cat is not in the way); the fresh smell and taste of good coffee in the morning; yummy berries on my cereal; a good job with an understanding boss; lots of warm sunny days in the middle of winter with lots of tennis matches with my best girl friends; all my good friends; homemade meals and a warm fire on a cold evening; good health and a really great sister OH, HAPPINESS IS MY LIFE!

Happiness is a big pot of chicken veggie soup simmering on the stove, a dog in my lap, my son giggling in the next room and sitting here sipping a glass of chocovino. (strange combination of dutch chocolate and red wine, that is so surprisingly good.)

Happiness is me and my three pets (little fat orange kitty, serious old black and white kitty and the greyhound puppy) all curled up with me in bed on a lazy weekend afternoon just enjoying each other's company and the way the light flickers in through the blinds.

That and a nice glass of red wine with some 90% chocolate.

Happiness is staying up WAY too late finishing a good book. Then calling in "sick" the next day to consume the sequel. Just the cat for company, dozing quietly on the couch, on the floor, in my lap--who knows when he decided to get up and move? The pit-pat of rain on the windows. Sigh.

Hey, I have nearly 2 months of vacation to use up this year. And, as I well know, the demand of the job doesn't really allow for that vacation time! If there's nothing Urgent! Red Flag! ASAP! sitting on my desk, why the heck not take the day off????

Happiness is...

a very snuggly orange kitty who usually doesn't sit still for 2 seconds of pets. He's still young, he's tired, he can barely keep his eyes open but he's purring!

(He's also very lucky that I found my second garnet earring in a floor crack this morning - those were a Christmas present I received as a 5-month-old and if he'd been the reason I lost one I would've been very upset)

Besides the obvious (climbing), happiness is finding a friendly kittykittykitty to pet on a ride. Especially a ride like last weekend's, with its 51 miles and 5,062' of climbing.

My helmet cam was still recording when I stopped to take a picture of the funny sign at an antique store at the end of my ride. I spotted a cat across the street and walked over to pet her. Turn up the volume to hear her adorable purr-meows. :)

Thank you! :) I saw the like when I went to my profile. I just LOVE kitties! I have tons of videos and pictures of all the friendly cats I've petted over the years. It makes me happy to hear them purring and talking, and to see them roll over and give that "I wuv you!" look. Some of them even let you rub their belly, but most will use your hand for a cat toy if you do that. My mother's hands and arms are all scratched up from her overgrown kitten. :D

sweet kitty with a beautiful face and very friendly. Lucky you.

Our miss Ike talks like that when she is petted but she has this teeny weeny squeaky little voice. It is quite endearing.

Awww Luv2Climb - thanks for sharing:)

I'm such a sucker for sweet kitties (this explains how I came home with three when I went to adopt 1). All of mine talk - but in different ways. Our Siamese mix has that weird throaty voice that he uses sometimes. Our big long haired Maine Coon looking kitty has a very thin squeak almost. The other one is somewhere in the middle - but mostly a monotone....

Thanks gals! :) I'll have to get video of the gray and white cat my friends and I named Smokey. He showed up in the neighborhood one day and he always greets you with a series of loud meows. He also kneads a lot, so he was probably weaned too early as a kitten.

I wonder if the tiny little bell like squeak is typical of Maine Coons? Our 22 pound boy Tux has such an itty bitty tiny voice which he uses hardly at all. Neither of our current cats talk all that much, maybe one or two comments e very couple of weeks. Previously we had an ocicat (abyssinian/siamese cross breed) that talked and whine constantly.

Now if we could only break the dogs of barking constantly at e verything and nothing.

LimeWave - too cute! What a sweety :-) :-) :-)

Happiness is waking up in bed next to my sweetheart BF and putting my head on his chest while we both wake up. The smell of the fresh cup of coffee he sits on the nightstand next to me in the morning :-) Purring kitties is always a happy time and of course fun rides with new and old friends :-)

Happiness to me is to ride the trails, connected to the world around me. It is camping, relaxing at the fire, riding, hiking, without a thought for work stress. It is relaxing in front of the fireplace at home, listening to good music, watching the fire and reading a good book.

Happiness is completing a beautiful embroidery project for a good friend. Happiness is, or used to be, writing a story while listening to good music. I am considering returning to that after decades of not writing. Happiness is relaxing with good friends, and if good beer is involved that is good too :)

From what I've read, they do "chirp" regularly more than other breeds. Mine has a really high, quiet voice too, though she talks much less now than she did as a kitten.

Thanks I needed this!
Happiness is spending time with my horse I have had for 21 yrs, my pup, sitting in a sunny spot in the back yard and being with my husband. I like the simple things and work to keep it that way. I love seeing the flowers popping, even though they are early and the birds every am at the feeder.
