We did the Iowa state fair last summer and did an interview when this group from the Travel channel went through. They are doing a thing on fair food. We had to do a sand sculpture of their famous butter cow. You should check it out "if" it didn't make the cutting floor. It airs @6:00 pm but I am not sure if that is pacific or mountain or what. But if you get a chance to check out it might be fun. Iowa has the BEST pork chops I have EVER had! And I hate fair food!
Wish I had the Travel Channel!
The Illinois State Fair has a butter cow too, it's very cool. :D

I believe my friend Jon does that butter cow. he is a good sculpture of butter! :)

I was playing in the sand at the beach on New Years Eve, thinking about you. I was wondering how on earth you get sand to do that?? Not only do you have to have great artistic talent... you're working with an unstable medium. A butter cow (as long as it's cold) is child's play by comparison.

AT&T U-verse in the SF Bay area lists a show called State Fair Foods on Travel Channel-West from 8-9 pm tonight (this is in the San Francisco area).
I'll record it on my dvr, but I don't think I can copy it onto anything else, otherwise I'd be glad to save you a copy (sorry!)
FWIW, the show description reads as follows:
Concessioners try to create the zaniest, most delicious, most carbohydrate-loaded and over-the-top edible concoctions; Maggot Melts and Belly Buster Burgers are featured in Colo.; ostrich, alligator and casserole on a stick are highlighted in Minn.
Nothing about Iowa, but that said, these episode descriptions are often wrong or incomplete.

I got the notice from the fair itself. So they must be in there some place! Maggot melts? Really?
I won't need a copy because I believe the travel channel plays thier shows at some point online at their web site.
@ Pax....awww shucks thank you! And it is unstable but we can tame the beast!
