Do you have a mountain bike bucket list? Even though I am a beginner, I am slowly developing one. It will certainly require a lot of work from my current skill level to reach any of these - and I may not be able to reach all of these goals and that is ok. Each of the following is meant to build on the one before as I, hopefully, progress to my final goal of eventually riding Pisgah...this is a true multi-year bucket list. I've no interest in racing, I am focused more on trails rather than events. I am quite slow....and more interested in building overall skills and climbing strength. Speed will come as it will come.

Brown County Breakdown
Gravel Grovel
Nebo Ridge Trail
French Lick Trail
Tsali
DuPont State Park
Pisgah

The only non-mtb item on my list is BRAT, which I might do in 2013...

I have a small bucket list. And there's one HUGE item on there. So huge that I will not admit it to anyone until/unless I think there's even the slightest chance it will happen. Right now, current fitness wise - no way, but the idea keeps me going.

My goal this year is to stay uninjured long enough to actually build up some bike fitness...hah. And be confident enough on the bike for a fall trip to Moab. Anyone else wanna go out there this fall?

I hear you, and I have that goal as well. Really, the 50-ton gorilla "section" on my list starts with Dupont. I am pretty sure the ones before that are perfectly reachable for me if I can stay uninjured long enough to build fitness and endurance...but it will take a couple of years to build the bike fitness and experience I need to venture as far as Tsali. The first 4 things on my list are in southern Indiana, and the first two are events.

Moab looks awesome...

There is something powerful about having a bucket list, and even more so about saying what is on it. It gets it out there in the ether, so to speak ;)

I've never liked the term "bucket list". I'd like to think of a more positive term than "things to do before I kick the bucket." Maybe - Living Life to it Fullest Extent - LLIFE List. :D

A LLIFE list...I love it! Moab is on my LLIFE list. I could be interested in going with you, Jess. That's presuming that I, too, remain uninjured this season:D

I really like the different term, I couldn't think of what else to call it :)

My primary goals this season is to increase my mtb skills and fitness without broken bones or other major injury.

Looking forward to hearing how the Moab trip goes!

You could join us and see for yourself! It would be quite a drive for you but maybe you could find TE'er's to stay with along the way to cut lodging expenses and make the trip even more memorable.

Not THIS year... I still find the beginner trails at Brown County State Park to be challenging enough. I would love to do that sometime in the future however, once my skills and fitness have advanced enough for me to go beyond the trail systems in Southern Indiana

Thankfully the trail system in my favorite park has been given epic status by the IMBA, so there is plenty of levels there to challenge me before I am brave enough to go beyond.

I'm not very familiar with global or even national trails. My lack of knowledge is limiting my potential list here. But, I do have some ideas:

Moab for sure. I've heard enough about it from DH that its a must do.
Brown County (already made reservations! :D)
Leadville 100????
Copper Harbor
Chequamegon 40

A few years ago we looked into doing a mountain bike tour in Alaska, that's still on my list.

Oooh, Alaska is on my list of destinations. And we don't travel without our mountain bikes. That would be a good one for sure.

I love the term Bucket List! It's tongue in cheek plus it helps me keep a perspective on what I can actually fit into my bucket. I stay healthier and happier when I make sure I don't try to stuff too much into my SK-sized bucket.

White Rim
Fruita
McKenzie River Trail the entire length (should be this summer)

Otherwise, we checked off a major bucket list item by moving to mtb paradise.

I'd like to do the Maah Daah Hey Trail sometime. But it was in terrible shape the last time I tried to ride any of it so I can't imagine dealing with 100 miles of that.

Lime, if you do Leadville I'll totally come cheer :) I go watch every year.

I rode Moab, many years ago. Hard. Also did Fruita CO two years ago. Horse Thief Bench was much more fun and just as hard. And in retrospect, the trails around Boise ID were just awesome. I had no idea about them but looming bad weather in Fruita drove me west for week two of my vacation and it was a great discovery. I will do Fruita again but am over Moab.

I also had Park City on my list back in the day and rode there back in the `90s. The altitude was tough on this sea level girl. Bend OR was also on my list, been there three times now and will go back again for the sweet single track. I would like to ride Ledville but there's that altitude again...

SK, you haven't done Mackenzie River yet and you live right there?

Umpqua River Trail, oregon ( multi day)
Seven Summits ( requires an amazing fitness level) Rossland BC
Keystone Standard Basin at Revelstoke BC.

I've done the lower half multiple times, but not in years. Now that we live here we've been exploring the trails that we never had a chance to do on trips as well as all the fishing. Last year also we spent a lot of time in Eastern OR. Just branching out bits and pieces at a time.

I looked up the Maah Daah Hey Trail and it sounds intriguing...but it doesn't sound like it is actually maintained considering the location... Very interesting location however!

I camped at one end of it last summer. I'd been driving through plains for hours and hours and pulled into the campsite at around 11 pm - it was pitch black, and I could see far enough to put up the tent. I woke up the next morning in the middle of the badlands and the view was spectacular! But yeah, from what I understand, just a handful of people maintain it. It hasn't even been open for very long but the weather in that area combined with the soils doesn't really bode well for long term trail existence. Probably a better trail for horses :)

This is more of a "someday wishlist" and some are goals.

Hut to Hut Tour - Mount Hood
Hut to Hut - Colorado
Go true downhill riding, tasted a little bit in Angelfire but I want to take the lesson and go!
Earn my way to Cat 1 racing - preferably by winning the Cat 2 title!
Moab - Not sure how soon it will happen but it will
Mountain bike in Europe - not sure yet where but it looks impressive in Switzerland and France
100 mile race - Maybe the Ouchita Challenge, key is it can't be super high altitude so no Leadville. :(

Oooh, those are some nice goals! I would love to try downhill riding too. I was thinking about a trip to Whistler . . .

John Wayne/Iron Horse Trail to Snoqualmie Pass, and if the tunnel doesn't freak me out, a ride through the tunnel. ;)

I've had my sights set on Pisgah for a couple years now, ever since my dad moved to Knoxville, TN. I figure I can make a side trip out there one of the days I'm visiting.
*Rothrock SP near State College, PA
*Gooseberry Mesa/Thunder Mtn in UT
*Vietnam in MA
*Transylvania Epic!!!!!

I've already knocked off:
Kingdom Trails, VT
Millstone Trails, VT
Raystown, PA
Whiteface Mtn., Lake Placid, NY

Anyone planning on coming through Fruita/Grand Junction, send me a note. I don't mtn bike a lot, I'm kind of beginner/intermediate level (also called "chicken" level).
The road riding is pretty awesome here too.
