My awesome mom, gave me a cycleops fluid trainer for Xmas. She has one herself for her Betty Foy bicycle. I tried hers out around Thanksgiving when I was over there, and liked it. I intended to get a trainer for myself, but hadn't gotten around to it yet. So she surprised me on Xmas.

There was some swearing, yelling, and pleading on my part, but I got it set up on my road bike all by myself. (I'm sure my husband was entertained by my crazy banter coming from the basement, but he was upstairs yelling at the football game of our Alma Mater in a bowl game.) The paper instructions weren't too helpful. I have trouble comprehending written instructions. I'm for a visual and kinesthetic learner, so I found a youtube video that was easy to follow. I like it so far. I took it for a 1/2 hour spin. I still need to fight the boredom even with my tunes playing. But I love that I can keep up riding in the winter, and I don't have to depend on whether I'll get a place in the spin class or not at the gym. Plus I won't get my ears blown out by loud music from the classes anymore. I can control my own volume.

Congratulations!

Great sense of accomplishment to be able to do things for yourself. Yes, it's boring but far better than losing your outdoor fitness.
