My painter finished up the frame this week, so I got to assemble Project MB-1 and will be taking her on a thorough test ride xmas eve.

32 mile, epic (as my friend called it) 1st ride for the bike! 2600' of climbing - bike did way better than my climbing, or is it non-climbing, legs.:D

Bike felt great! Gonna be lovin' riding this as my all rounder bike. Sure glad I had the triple with the 26T inner. Everything worked great and love the mix of components. The bike had no troubles over the variety of road surface quality and we even had some miles of dirt/gravel road. The only thing I need to look at is the friction of the shifters, they don't seem to hold against the springs in the derailleurs, especially with the Jagwire teflon cables.

Here is a shot of some of the great scenery.

Here's the bike at the highest point on our ride.

See what he left in our bathtub for a certain almost 11 year-old boy!

And, yeah, that bar tape is chrome. We found an Elite Custom bottle cage to match, even.

This is why there are so few photos of me, as well...I have a BA in Photo, so that's my excuse!

Love seeing what you are doing with your new ride, too. It's so elegant and classy looking. I love that white color scheme.

Sweet! Someone is going to be very happy!

I think he's going to do a lot of hooting and hopping and thanking us. This is the first year that he's not fully believing in Santa, so we get ALL the glory! :D

Zoom-zoom, please give us a little write-up after he sees this fantastic looking bike. I love how you hid it in the shower!

And radacrider, what a great job and first ride out with the new bike.

I can't help laughing at the fact that the bathtub is best the place to hide something from a pre-teen boy. :D What a happy expression on his face!

He's actually pretty good about bathing, too. My brother at that age...not so much. My mom used to tell him that he didn't have to use soap, but he did have to wash his hair (hoping that the shampoo would sorta clean the rest of him). :p

He was totally giddy. Then he wanted to know how to shift and brake. He was really exciting to have a bike with more than 1 gear and coaster brakes. I'm glad we're having an unseasonably warm Dec. I expect he will be doing some noodling around the yard before Spring!
