View Full Version : Decision made - new bike on way!
I decided on the Vita Elite (http://www.specialized.com/gb/gb/bc/SBCProduct.jsp?spid=61522&scid=1102&scname=Multi+Use+). Much as I love the Dash, it just wasn't quite versatile enough and the Vita has such a good press that I felt confident going ahead. So I have one of the Elites on its way, thanks to my lovely lovely LBS who have been working their contacts at Specialized to get one of these for me (there have apparently not been enough shipped to the UK to meet demand). They fitted me on a stepthrough Vita, which felt great, the Elite is due in early next week and they'll deliver it to me on Thursday!
Anyway, the LBS swapping out the Nimbus tyres for something that will enable some dirt road shortcuts, and the pedals for plain platforms. They're also adding fenders, rack and water bottle. I feel both ridiculously excited and very slightly extravagant.
Thank you again to everyone who helped me through the decision making, I really appreciated all your thoughts and advice.

Hurray. Hope you have good weather for trying it out!
Thanks everyone!
The LBS just phoned to say the stock isn't in the UK yet, so delivery to me won't be til the 9th. On the bright side, there is still a bike reserved for me, and I'll have time to decide on a new saddle (I didn't love the standard one) and a pannier. And hopefully the weather will be less windy and wet by then :clutchingatstraws:

As far as the saddle goes, it looks like they still have the riva saddle--same as the one on my 2011 Vita. In my experience, it became uncomfortable after 30-40 minutes of riding. I think they described it something like "plush and comfortable" (not a direct quote, but you get the idea). Total contradiction in terms. I think you are wise to be think about replacing it now.

This is pretty much what the bike shop lady said too, and I trust her judgement.
