On bringing my new bike home from the shop, the car trunk rack scraped up my finish. (yes, I'm looking into a new rack)
The bike is aluminum, but I do have bare metal exposed.

So besides the pain of seeing my new baby hurt, is this a problem?

How would I fix this? Who sells paint that would be a color match?

the dealer ought to provide matching touchup paint if it's a new bike. If not, an auto body paint shop will. Touch it up just like you would a car.

If you can't find the color in auto paint, nail polish will do the trick, and it comes in more funky colors.

A local dealer tells it like this- You take your new shiny baby home and take it in the living room. Get a beer, sit and admire, carress, be awed by it's pristine beauty. When you've finished the beer, get a pin and give it it's first miniscule scratch in a place it won't be seen. Then you can get over it and ride. :D You just got saved that process.

Hope the damage was minor. Hope you had the beer anyway.

As long as you didn't gouge metal out, aluminum doesn't rust, so this is a cosmetic thing. Still important to you, but it won't be a major problem. If you did remove metal get it looked at.
