The bra fit thread got me contemplating getting some new bras. I took my measurements and decided that I would order two of the exact same bra, one a 32 C and 1 a 36 A. Although if I had gone strictly by my measurements I really should have gotten a 30 D. :eek:They came in today. My initial reaction is that the 32 C fits and looks better. Really a C? I've had 34 Bs, 36 As, small/mediums, mediums...

Now I have to decide if I can get use to an under wire. For the last few years I've been wearing mainly Patagonia's Barely There bra. An under wire is a HUGE change!

My personal opinion is that bra fitting guides are just that: suggestions, probabilities, estimates.

Every brand and every model within a brand fits differently. I gotta try 'em all on and just buy the one that fits.

Yeah, I didn't read the thread but I have a lot of years experience. Sigh, I was groped in 5th grade.

Glad I've gotten others thinking about this. I see lots of women in bras that don't fit. The calculators also put me in a 30 D/DD, but I fit well in a 28G. Once you find a size you "think" fits putting it on properly is the key. This is the difference between comfort and misery.

Using the guides and videos in this link helped me to learn how to put a bra on correctly and evaluate fit. I don't know how many bras I ordered and returned because they didn't fit but I was expecting the company to refuse to send me any more:). I finally found an English brand, Freya and their 28G's are a great fit.

Although I've worn underwires for years I'm getting used to the feel of a properly fitting bra. My back pain is gone and my posture is improved. Funny, I thought my problem was weak and stiff muscles!

The band gives the most support. Too large and it rides up your back and doesn't give lift. Bands also stretch over time that's why the recommendation that a new bra should fit in the first hook. The whole fitting process is tricky. If you don't know how to put on a bra and what to look for it's easy to think the bra fits but in reality it doesn't. Sometimes professional fitters don't get it right.

Actually, what you're saying about measuring a 30D but fitting in a 32C does make sense. The rule of thumb is that when you go up a band size you go down a cup size. Here's a chart that shows the relationship between cup and band sizes. http://www.herroom.com/bra-underwires-design-and-size-manufacturing,912,30.html

This summer I bought some bras in 32 C's & D's thinking the bands ran small. Now I realize the cups were too small, the bands too big and I'm already wearing them in the middle and last hooks.

Good luck with your search.
