Thought my TE sisters would get a laugh/understand...

Talking to DH the other day about having some work done on my face. The sagging & lines seem more prominent and age spots keep popping up. In spite of my spf 50, nature seems to have its way.

Then, I said (thinking out loud) that a series of laser treatments, fillers, etc., would probably cost the same as a new titanium Seven. Hmmm...

Decided to go with the bike. It will last longer & be tons more fun :D

Good choice! My coworker has had a variety of treatments to deal with age spots on her face and body. None have been successful. She did just be some alpha hydroxy lotion that you can get at Costco that another of our co-workers swears by. I'm dubious. If a chemical peel in a doctor's office didn't work, I'm not sure that any over-the-counter product will.

I agree- good choice.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Do you feel beautiful? I'll bet you REALLY will when you have a new Seven under you. :p
Enjoy!

I figure I earned this face so I'll wear it comfortably, and a new bike doesn't hurt or require bandages!! :p

Great choice! Enjoy the bike - it will naturally improve your face since you won't be able to stop smiling while you're riding it!

Still drooling over the Seven catalog that I just got. Thinking I'll go down to Sabino Cycles - the local dealer & see what they've got.

I've had the Gilmour 17 years, so it's family. A new face wouldn't last 17 years!

unless of course, you fall- ducking and running for cover.

Seriously good choice, your face is a well earned mark of your inner beauty, experience and soul. But then so is a good bike so it's a win win situation.

A new bike, and what you can accomplish on it, will do more for your self esteem :)

Agreed, the bike is a great purchase!

Also agreed that the cosmetic work is only temporary and a sligtht/somewhat improvement (versus a dramatic night and day difference).

Wishing you happy and safe miles on the new bike.

Wholeheartedly agree. Dollar for dollar, you'll get so much more happiness from your beautiful bicycle...and the results will be longer lasting by far... Enjoy!

I love the empowering women on this forum for sure.

I'm 47 and have lost over 100 lbs. and recently had some facial "work" done in the form of botox and fillers and I LOVE my look. I look so much better, younger and less "tired". I also have a new bike (not titanium).

I don't know....if you save and plan you can do both.

Seriously considering dermal filler.
I bought my custom bike and frankly, the fillers cost a lot less. I don't see myself doing it forever, but at least until I get the "job of my dreams" in my second career. I don't cast aspersions on anyone who gets "work" done, as long as it doesn't look fake or overdone. Sure, I'm vain. I might see this differently if the women on this forum weren't healthy, athletic people in terms of lifestyle, but really, if you have the $, i.e. don't go into debt to get it done, who cares?

I ran into the mechanic who built my bike 17 years ago! He's no longer working on bikes (drives a Frito-Lay truck because it pays better...sigh...) but said my frame maker is still going great guns & is doing all different types of materials. But most importantly, he said my bike (steel, reynolds 753) is one of the best materials that bikes were built from. It's definitely vintage, lugged frame but the joints are decorative points with Thunderbird cut outs. AND it fits me perfectly. His suggestion was to take the frame back, have it sanded down & repainted, maybe new pedals. It's Campy Chorus and still runs just fine. My fear was that I'd pay big bucks for a bike that didn't fit as well as my Gilmour (the name of the frame builder.) So when the weather gets too cold to ride (you know - 50 degrees :D) I'll take it in.

Re dermal fillers - I'm definitely interested in those for my upper lip. I've read that your body will start to make collagen, so the fillers can last for a year +. AND, if you don't like it, it can be reversed. Many years ago I had botox done on my forehead & ended up looking like a gecko for three months, so I'm very gun-shy about face work.

No endorphin rush with surgery!
