View Full Version : Possibly Stupid Questions re Rock'n'Roll Marathon Bike Tour

The San Antonio Rock'n'Roll Marathon is tomorrow. This year they've added a Bike Tour that precedes the run.

My question has to do with the rider ID placard they provided in the rider packets. Rather than being the usual Tyvek paper type of ID, our rider ID numbers are printed on a thin cardboard placard, with the reverse side to be filled out with emergency contact info. So I'm wondering if we're supposed to attach this cardboard to our shirts (which seems potentially uncomfortable). It has three holes punched in it, presumably for safety pins, but they provided both safety pins and zip ties in the envelope. The fact that it's cardboard and not paper, plus the zip ties, makes me think perhaps it's supposed to be attached to our bikes somehow. But how and where, I wonder.

Also in the packet was a small (about 1" x 1 1/2") sticker with just our rider ID number on it. What the heck is that for?!

No instructions were provided at all. Well, it does say all riders must wear their rider numbers, and they must be clearly visible. Do they mean put that sticker on your helmet, or pin on the cardboard placard, or zip-tie the placard to your bike?

The only thing that was a no-brainer for me was the wristband. Everything else has me scratching my head.

I tried posting my question on the ride's Facebook page, but have not received any replies. I also emailed a question to the contact provided on the event's website, but no response there, either.

Hoping one of you might have some ideas. I'm wanting to get all my gear squared away this evening, and I need to figure this out. Ugh! :o

The sticker goes on the front of your helmet, for the photographers.

Usually if a placard is supposed to go on the bike, it gets folded over the top tube and has the number on it twice, so it's right ways up and visible on both sides.

Maybe it's supposed to go on your saddle rails and seatpost??? I doubt if it's critical in any case. Put it wherever it makes sense to you and expect that other people will have done the same ... or just wait until you get to the start to attach it.

Yeah, I thought perhaps the sticker was for the helmet. But I suppose I'll just bring it all with me in the morning and see what they tell me at the check-in for the start.
Thanks!

Got a response to my email: placard on bike w/ zip ties, sticker on helmet.
