I was able to get a good online deal on PI Amfibs, thankfully I was able to get the tights without the chamois. I want to be able to use them for more than riding.

The mediums are a little loose on my legs, but I figure that is fine and my kneecap might actually prefer that. My lighter-weight Sugoi mid-zero tights have a tighter fit but my kneecap doesn't like them.

I know the Amfibs are for colder temps than my mid-zero tights, I am hoping I can wear them in 30-degree temps without having to wear other things underneath or over them on the bike. I am cold-natured now that I have lost so much weight (though I've got a few more pounds to go), but are they really THAT good in cold temps? Just curious how others use them.

I can only bike with the AmFibs if the temps stay below 40F, otherwise I overheat. Mine are also without chamois, so I also wear then for running when it's below 20F.

Sweet! That was what I was hoping to hear. I have to break out my Sugoi mid-zero tights out around 61 degrees or so, I get cold easily. I can wear them down to about 40...sounds like I chose well. I also want to wear the Amfibs for hiking, wear them under my jeans I think. Or at least try it and see if they are too warm for that. I prefer to hike in VERY cold temperatures for some reason - there is something special about hiking in the frozen woods when it is in the single digits and everything is covered in snow :)

I'm overweight and have a thermostat that usually stays hot but....

I've worn them at night in 32 degree rain/ice and been HOT - yes, hot. They really are warm....And they can be a little stiff on the front, so loose is good.

How?! OMG they are SO freaking LOUD! I originally bought mine for running and didn't even make it 3 miles before I shoved them away in a drawer. I couldn't turn the volume on my headphones loud enough to drown out the racket.

And, yeah, looser is better. The front panels have pretty much 0 give.
